For those of you who haven't experienced fridays at Sonar , I'll post a little sample that hopefully draws some of the cinics.
PH1 has successfully set up a venue that is not only fantastic, but pulls a world of huge DJ's.
You walk into Sonar, with no wait in line thanks to buying your ticket like you would to any show, notice right away there's lounge chairs all around. The crowd is a mix of old school ravers, beautiful women, and people just loving the music. The main stage has a great dancefloor, with a huge sound system, and a great stage to watch the dj. It always starts out with fantastic show starters from residents like Rev,Czech, even A&A. You relax comfortable while the dancefloor begins to pack, while sipping on some RedBull&Vodka ( best drink there ) . For the smokers, there's a large smoke room to the side which comfortable seats a bevy of people.
For all tastes, you can quickly walk upstairs where there's a second bar set up, and an entirely different sound system. Inside is the drum&base room which packs full of DNB enthusiasts dancing their brains out.
But don't stay too long, because before you know it HUGE dj's like DjDan, Badboybill, Donald Glaude, Seb Fontaine, will be spinning downstairs to a packed crowd.
All in all it's by far the best dance venue going on latenights in vancouver. Sets go 'till 4AM ! The sound is fantastic! And the price is right, with most shows starting at 10$ for world class DJ's. If you don't have latenight plans, see you there.
