 Dj Name: Shift Contact: [email protected] Genre: Bass Heavy House and Breaks, Electro Affiliations: Needle Clothing, 5th Element, Kinetik Links: http://needleclothingco.com How long have you been spinning? -5 years What originally hooked you into the dj scene? -I originally started off spinning hip-hop with some friends from high school and was later inspired to play house and breaks by the Stevens brothers (Nemesis and Chase) who lived up the street from me in my hometown. Music has always been a big part of my life and this seemed to be a good way to share it with others. What type of music do you specialize in? -I've been know to play everything from progressive house to nu skool breaks and speed garage, and everything in between, the common link being the huge basslines found in almost every track I own. More specifically house with a nu skool vibe and dirty electro. Most treasured record and why? -Such a tough question. My records are like the children I don't have, I can't play favorites. Fluid (Nelson), Club 357 (Kamloops), Illusions (Kelowna), Higher Ground @ Splash's (Kelowna), Mack Daddy's (Sun Peaks Resort), DTCS (Nelson), Lucy Mae Brown, Vibes, Atlantis, Exhibition Room @ Blox, The Drink Have you got any DJing horror stories? -Do I?!?! You name it and it's happened to me at one point or another, messed up needles, bad sound, no monitors, stupid requests, people messing with records that are playing, parties busted 5 mins into my set or just before I'm about to go on, hell I even came close to getting jumped once (ingnorant hicks seem to think fucking with "ravers" is funny). So yes. Are you a resident Dj, if so where? -Not at the moment. Any other info? -I have new mix up in the works which will be available before the new year.
