that was THE craziest show i've been too besides shambhala. fire dancers, huge crystal balls, beat boxing puppets, war painted faces, huge feather fans, dancers on stilts, dreadlocks flying everywhere, live bongo drums, live singing, and of course Lorin Bassnectar.

definitly the pre-shambles party. they managed to bring the vibe (and look) of shambhala into a downtown vancouver venue. everyone there was fucking going nuts and with good reason.

Lorin played a sweet set. i think it was like 3 hours long or something. got everyone to dance on stage with him, so it didn't feel like just a show you were going to see, but a show you were a part of. closest thing to seeing lorin at shambhala as you can get without actually going to shambhala...his show at sonar wasn't nearly on this level.

Last nite made me decide that im DEFINATELY going to Shambhala now. What an awesome night.

It was an excellent experience. So many things to like about the show... the vibe was incredible, everyone was there to party... Lorin played some killer tracks (although maybe one too many off of his recent LP)... the sound which was a bit suspect during Hula Hoop's set IMMEDIATELY shaped up when Bassnectar dropped his first track... and, of course, the one thing we all came for... Lorin's hair was in full effect.

There's one track I have to find from last night (which he also played @ sonar).. check my track ID request in music section.

Maybe my favorite part of the night was having some friends come out who didn't know what to expect... and having them say to me "whoah this is better than I thought it would be!"... gotta love it =D

Damn......after ryan left 'diverse systems of throb' in my c case, I knew a show by lorn would be amazing.....it was everythin I expected, and more. The whole experience was mind blowing. I really can't say enough about it.....first time at commodore, first time seeing lorin, first time seeing anything even close to that level of a show. wow.

SooOoOoOoOOOO much fun..... i coudnt wait for shambles b4.. but now i cant wait even more..... i missed lorin at shambles last year.. but this made up for it.. this was like what his set would be like at shambhala but indoors... commodore was awesome for a show like this cause its huge and the sound is amazing.. when lorin first came on i was talking to grapes and the bass kicked in.. and it seriously felt like the bass came flying out and hit u in the face... super intense! I LOOOOOOOOOVE Hoola hoop... anyone know where to get a set??... i love his style... ive never really heard music like that before.. it was awesome.... everyone was so great... im stoaked i got carrie and mike to come out.. hopefully they enjoyed it as much as i did.... such good vibes and good people.

highlights of my night:
*watching the cool firedance/play thingy at the beginning of the night..... *having the camera crew walking around and then start recording me going OFF for like 5 mins.. then nearly passing out after... :D
*and when lorin was playing... right in the middle of his set.. he turns the volume down and is like " i just have to tell you.. this next song is just so fucking sick..." then turns the volume back up... lol.
*having some guy come up to me at the end of the night after i went to get my bag from coat check and be like " im sure u probably know this.. but your an amazing dancer... im so glad that there are still people out there like you that can go off....thank you!!!"

fuck i cant wait for shambles. <3

Ive never been to van and im flying in before shambles to go with ma crew out there. But i would LOVE to check out some van city parties before im become a shambles.
