The strata council in my building is completely useless. There was a huge person-sized hole, that mysteriously showed up in the hallway wall right outside my front door. I slipped a letter under the door of the Strata president and went to her suite about a dozen times over a 6 week period of time, before I actually got a response. I ended up taking them over 3 months to actually fix it.

The shitty part is this happened about 2 weeks before I was planning on putting my place up for sale, so I had to make excuses to everyone who came to view my place. Thankfully it is fixed now.

Stratas are teh ghey.

yes. I know what you mean.
When my old strata counsil manager left his heater on too high and it burnt his apt., the alarm was beeping for probably about 6 hours before anyone ceased this noise.
2 hours before they could turn the sprinkler off in his place.
Very frustrating and a big hassle, especially when people are walsing into your apt unannounced.

that happened at mikes place a couple times in the summer.... once it went for for 2 hours non stop.. and it was about 2 in the morning..... man were we pissed... and theres nothing u can do.. ui cant turn the alarm off at all....

all i hear is negative shit about stratas..

it really makes it not worth it to buy a condo/townhouse.. i wouldnt be happy about tacking on an extra $3-400 / month on top of a mortgage.

yea well, in a house it's works out to be about the same for maintentence costs...

except some of it you can do yourself and save some money...

more rooms / private garage..
