Is this right?
Last night I was out with my brother xmas shopping downtown when we went to go into lululemon because he wanted to show me something I could get him from there. This was during their regular open hours.
As we got to the store, there was two staff members standing outside and I was like 'hey that's odd, greeters outside the store?'. As we approached the store they said hello to us and then proceeded to block the door...which was a little strange and said "hi there!" to which we replied "hello" then they proceeded to say (and these are exact words here) "yeah, tonight is our Men's only shopping night so one of you can't come in the store". That was when my face exploded and the lady who said that looked at me nervously and just laughed. As we were walking away, the lady at the front entrance said "well if someone said I couldn't go in a store, I would think it was funny, ha ha" Seriously, there are a lot of things wrong here and my brother didn't think I should be so upset, but I think it is really stupid to have a men's only shopping night, and I would feel the exact same way if it was women's only and they wouldn't allow my brother in. They can't have a white people only shopping day, why allow segregation based on sex? The second thing wrong, and this is huge is the way it was positioned to us, 98% of how you can deliver bad news to a customer is in how you say it, and that was the wrong way to say it, not to mention there was no kind of apology and it was treated like a big joke. Kind of made me feel really horrible about that place which is sad because I've probably spent almost $500 on stuff for myself and gifts for others there in the last year. The sad part for their business is they probably offended more people than me last night and the reality is most people going there that will actually spend money this time of year are still women. What do you think? |

It may not be right, but it's definately an attempt to spread the demographic...Plus, a lot of girls love lulu, and many guys just normally would not step foot inside the store because they'll be daunted and wonder what the hell to do.
Beer and sports, great marketing. I don't know if as a marketing manager I would have gone through with it though....I don't discredit it immediately though. |

actually they can do whatever they want, its there store.
lots of stores have special nights geared towards certain crowds its not a big deal. could they have been nicer about it i quess so, did every girl that got turned away make an outrage post about it on a message board i fucking doubt it. and a mens only shopping night isnt dumb lots of guys dont want to go into certain stores and buy wierd shit when girls around, your bro should be outraged that you cant chill for one night and let the guys do there thing chick free. |

I think the sale is a great idea, as long as it is delivered in a non-offensive way. The ad seems fine, but the employee's message sounds like shit.
Maybe call and let the manager know that they need to prompt their staff on what to say? |

they definitely should have had a big sign out front explaining it to everyone, not just some girl who was bad at talking to people. |

But to handle it like that is not right. They could of had flyers to hand out that explained it, or fully explained what was going on. |
