ingrown toenails

so sunday afternoon i noticed my big toe on my left foot was kind of sore and felt tender. didn't think much of it until monday night when my big toe was beat red and i was almost unable to put a shoe on my foot and walk.

so today i went to a podiatrist and got him to take a look at it.

after clipping, prying away and digging at my toenail for about twenty minutes, he said i had a very bad ingrown toenail.

60$ later my toe feels better.



cliffnotes: ingrown toenails suck and are expensive to get fixed.

I had an infection in my thumb from a little ingrown nail..

dr prescribed a topical antibiotic. fixed it in a week.

Just cut a 'V' in the centre of your toenail next time and pry out the ingrown part. If you do that, your toenail will grow towards the center and not the sides.

bingo. haven't had an ingrown toenail since i discovered this trick in my ski racing days. super tight boots meant i either lost my toenail or had ingrown toenails constantly. after i starting notching the front of the toenail, no more ingrown toenails.
