Parking Tickets...

A few months ago I dropped someone off downtown. I stopped in a no stopping zone for one second, let the person out and had my blinker on to merge back into traffic no less than a minute later.

As I was waiting to merge back into traffic a meter maid walked past me, didn't look at me, didn't acknowledge me, nothing.

Three months later, I get a $90 ticket in the mail for that instance. Apparently the City of Vancouver feels that they don't have serve a person with a ticket. Not only did I not get this ticket in person, I wasn't notified prior to the "discount" deadline.

I now have to go into court to dispute the ticket. ARGH!

It's almost not worth taking the day off work to dispute the ticket eh.

dont pay it, when it gets transfered to a collection agency and they begin to contact you, ask them if they have proof of your reciept of the notice or proof that it wasnt a keying error. If they dont tell them that if they contact you again you will be contacting the rcmp inorder to press harassment charges.

Fortunately they havent started to take pictures of cars that they ticket so they really have no actual proof that it was your car and not a keying error.

i have about half a dozen parking tickets and i haven't paid a single one, my credit rating still be ballin outta control.

For me, taking a day off work to fight a $90 ticket would still put me under about $40. IM CHEAP.

I just paid $1200 in parking tickets. Add that to another $700 from a few years ago. They get you for anything. My most ridiculous ticket: Parking the car with the hazards on for 1 minute as I grabbed a bottled water. That sure was one hell of an expensive drink. If it were legal to kill people, I'd start with meter maids .

Had I been served at that time, I would have paid it right away and or disputed it right away....but seeing that I got it 3 months after the date it was written, my hands are kind of tied.

...don't stop in a clearly labled no stop zone... or a no parking zone... it's the best way to avoid tickets.

yeah, they should have sent it so you could pay it when it was 45$
is there a postmark on the envelope? that might help you in court.

Tell them not to call you at work or at home and to only contact you in writting. Then if they call you again, you actually can make a ministry complaint. :)

i have to dispute one as well. fucking metro parking, i didnt even get a tiket in the window. and i paid for parking as well. should have kept the pass for proof.

I know the feeling, I got one on Saturday but they put it on paper and it just turned to mush int he rain and so now I don't even know how much I owe... have to call in
