graduation stress
i've been so stressed out trying to get things organized for grad that of course one more thing has to go wrong. i ordered my dress 4 months ago and they wait a week before my grad to tell me that it is being held in customs in mexico and it doesn't come in extra length. So i have to find a new dress. i wanted to rip their throats out . and to top it off they wouldn't give me my money back and told me to pick out a new dress and i still have to pay for alterations. What a piss off. People are so stupid. So anyone graduating in the future be sure of where you get your dress from or you might get ripped off like me!!!!!

but you'll find a new dress. the same thing happened to me and it all worked out hon.
the main thing is that you NEED to enjoy grad and put all stress aside. it's just a dress. it's only money. blablabla...i say these things because when you look back on grad - 5,10,100 years from now - you wont remember a damned thing about your dress. AND you'll miss out on lots at grad if you're all stressed n stuff. Grad night went by soooo fast. and then highskewl was done. all over. appreciate this time you have with everybody together - even people you don't like - cuz this is prolly the last time you'll see everone together like that. goodluck on the dress sitch.

ahhhhh i know what you mean lollypop (not about the dress...i mean grad in general). it's so fucking stressful. We still have to find a place for our after grad party and everything. and everyone's asking us (grad committee) when/where it's gonna be and they're being so bitchy and shit. ahhhh. and i still haven't gotten my tux yet...
too much to think about.

you should tell everyone that you arent releasing the location until the night of grad.
make it like you're keepin it a secret to make it good. even if you don't have a venue yet...just make sure you do before it's too late. thats my solution. that what my skewl did. we didn't know til we got there.

and we could even have an INFOLINE! ohhhhh watch out!! no but seriously...that would work out great cuz then people would stop asking questions and stuff...and it would also filter out any people who aren't supposed to come (ie. from other schools) genius idea!

:022: yeah we've been LOOKING INTO things...ie banquet halls etc. We were gonna get a room at Plaza of Nations but they want us to get a city permit cuz it exceeds a certain amount of people and therefor it's considered a "RAVE"? wtf?? and then last night we went to some restaraunt...we talked the manager on the phone and he seemed REALLY keen....we got there...and he was like "OH HELLO!! I'm sorry but i talked to my partner and we don't want your business...sorry!" and i was like "CUNT!" actually if i owned a restaraunt, there would be NO WAY IN HELL that i would rent it out to some grad class...especially our grad class. then we went to some other banquet hall and the manager was really nice...until one of the other kids on the grad committee asked, "So what happens if we break a few chairs?" and then he was like "ummmmm yeeeeeah....i've changed my mind". bitch. our LAST RESORT would be a frat house at UBC. but i have a feeling a lot of parents (especially girls' parents) won't be too happy about that idea. and then some person on the committee was like "don't worry though! the guys in the frat will be in the house while the party is going on to make sure everything goes to plan" and i was like "dude...they're only plan is to fuck some drunk high school girl..." but that's our last last last last LAST resort.

OMG! I totally know what you mean...
well, not about the dress though.. I bought my dress in july for $268.... it's fucking gorgeous! but grad is soooo stressful! I calculated the costs and it's sooo expensive! $105 for limo $85 dinner/dance ticket $268 dress $100 hair/makeup $100 + accessories, shoes, etc hey! our grad was planning on having our afterparty at a frat house at ubc too... but since we needed parental consent, we scratched that out and some guy with connections to hotels is gonna rent out part of either radisson or four seasons hotel.... it's supposed to include some keg too that'll serve 500 drinks! lol... should be fun! :) --Joanne :P

we're also looking into clubs...but most of the clubs we've contacted aren't to eager about renting out their club to 02823098209382085029 underage high school kids....

uhhh... no, i highly doubt they'd rent it out to highschoolers..
if I were a clubowner, I'd personally tell those to get the fuck out of my club.... but that's just me :) I'd go with a houseparty or the frat house at UBC... cuz what else can ya do? unless you can rent out some venue.. I've heard some people rented out the venue in vancouver public library.. also, a girl form grad council was planning on renting out croation or korean cultural centre.. but I dunno if you'd actually WANT those venues.. and keep in mind that most places, when you wanna rent em out to throw a party will require you to put a damage deposit, which will not be returned to you if people cause damage to the venue... so it might be good if you get everyone to pay up now so you can have enough money to make a down payment.. --Joanne :P

Why don't you guys scope out a venue and then get a guidance councellor to meet the owners with you.
Realistically, no responsible business owner is gona be happy about dealing with underaged kids. I know it sucks but having an adult would prolly really help.

that's what fucking lacks...we can't get teachers/counsellors/administrators involved because it's not a "school sponsered event". we have to do it on our own.
it's so fucking annoying. ahhhh... frat house...that's what it looks like...there's no worries with the frat house...almost no work on our behalf...blah. so stressful...

no need to go and start freakin out about grad. i didnt even have a prom date until like a week ago. its just a 1 nite thing where u only where your dress/tux for like 3-4 hours. im only concerned about the aftergrad party. hells yah!!! piss fest 2001!! hahaha. like 16 kegs for 200 people is hella alcohol. hella!
