I think mods should close threads but leave them viewable to the public.
That way, people can still see stupid things that a lot of people say.
Thus they don't always have a chance to save face.

That just happened the other day.
It really pissed me off because not only did it delete the stupidity of the people who posted, but also all the things that -I- had to say were gone too. I wanted other people to read it so I could get my fucking point across... which has now been deleted.
