car crashes

yup so on sunday night i was an idiot and drove piss drunk and turned right into a ditch. The worste part is i cant remember most of it. my hand is all fucked up and it looks like i was draged across a shag carpet and given a black eye. personally after this experiance every thing has changed i dont plan on going out every weekend like i use to to get drunk i brealy smoke cigs anymore and pot and makeing me feel like i am going to pass out. I really need to get my life together. Since i totaled my parents car i have to pay for 1/2 for the new one which is not to bad but it is coming out of my inheratence which means i will not be getting my own vehical for a long long time. With the whole accident i got off real easy cause i got my license suspended for 24hrs without a tic or anything but i think it is just because my parents showed up. And i though for sure i was going to be kicked out of my house well that would happen if it was up to my dad but my mom never wants to see me leave which is good cause i am in no shape to live on my own i am still at the point that once i get paid i blow most of my check within the first weekend. Yup well i think i am going to bake some cookies to take my mined off thinks thanx for listening to whoever reads this :keebler:

You still live, no one got killed or injured for life and all that happened is one mangled car and some bruises to your body.

You got off easy alright.:)

My aunt is in the Neural ICU at Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle because of a similar accident. In other words you got off really lucky.

You did got off easy, WAY too easy, count yourself lucky. Not only because you're not tragically injured, your parents didn't kick you out, or your licsence wasn't taken away (in my opinion it should have been considering you were so drunk you barely remember the incident) but because you didn't hurt/kill anyone else. If people started getting their licsences taken away maybe more would think twice about drinking and driving.

Sounds like this experience has in a way changed your life for the better and made you think twice about certain things. Sorry if I sound harsh, I just really don't agree with drinking and driving.

Seeing a relative that narrowly escaped death did a lot more than anything like losing a liscence could have. Maybe this girl should go to her local hospital and talk to some car crash victims, the one's not in a coma that is.

You think taking someone's license away will prevent them from driving?!??

Seriously?

its strange i dont think anyone could have convinced me to not drive after a couple of drinks a month ago. even with close calls it never sank in. lucky for me it was someone elses drunk mistake that really brought the lesson homefor me. untill you've been hit at a high speed i dont think you can understand the impact of an accident or the reprecutions of impaired driving.

McHammered: I'm not saying it will stop people from driving, but there should be a consequence for drinking and driving like getting your liscence taken away for good. If you get caught driving after that, some sort of sentence. I do believe this would stop people from drinking and driving to some degree, not completely but atleast it would stop some people I would hope.

Senior: I agree with you 100%. Losing thier liscence won't stop them nearly as much as experiencing what you have. Somehow I wish they could see how driving drunk or even reclessly can effect other people around them and themselves, but I'm not sure how this could happen. I remember in highschool they would show us numerous films and bring guest speakers regarding drinking and driving and this didn't seam to stop anyone from continuing to drink and drive.

I saw a BCTV news crew follow this guy that is such a bad driver that ICBC had his DL license revoked.

What do you think he still did?

You can't stop anyone from doing anything unless you put a shock collar on them and monitor them 100% of the time.

This is just human nature and stupidity... some people have more of the latter than prescribed.

If what you did it doesn't kill you, you might do one of two things:

1) Never do it again since you are glad you were given a second chance

2) Given time, forget, remember you did't die, so WTF... go do it again.

I am the second example when it comes to leaping off cliffs on a snowboard.

So you drove into a ditch, Sue? I see that you're okay, but how's the ditch? Is the ditch okay? people don't realize that 1 in 4 car accidents involve a ditch of some sort and nobody ever asks to see how the ditches are doing, like they don't have feelings or something. I mean don't get me wrong, it was probably the ditch's fault. It probably jumped out at you or snuck up on you and you hit it in self-defense right? Holy crap, I just used the word "ditch" like 6 times in one paragraph, son of a ditch! ditch ditch ditch

Its horrible when I hear of people in car accidents! espically when they are killed. Like I heard that 4 kids went driving after a party, and the driver,he blood acohol level was enough for 2 people to be drunk, and she lived and her friends died. Yeah, thats great go driving drunk with your friends...they went for a joy ride..and 3 will never come back..there lives ended like that! pretty sad! hope ur okay sue!

I would propose MASSIVE fines as a good solution for drinking and driving. Fine some one 6 months of their income for a first offence. That would also pay for all the expenses that come from people killing themselves in car accidents.
