if it isnt true then the rumors shouldnt bother you.
as a female it isnt cool if there are rumors goin around about myself fucking other people... however i found (and i learned this at 16) that if you ignore them, they tend to dissapear. if people ask you about them, tell them its a rumor. those who would believe you to do this uncharacteristics acts obviously dont deserve your time.
maybe im being harsh, but grow up. shit happens. lies are told, life proceeds. its not the end of the world if a rumor is spread. unless if its about you killing someone and you go to jail, that would be a shitty rumor.

Even if the rumours aren't true there are people who you care about that might be mislead by them. We're only human and we're all suscetible to believing rumours just as we are to believing old myths. It's all in the context that the rumour is spread, and some circumstances may make it easier for one party to believe something than others... However, one who truly DOES care about you would hear you out before accepting the rumour as truth.

but as mugsy said they will eventually disappear, and the best thing that you can do is to be 100% honest about your situation to those you care about.

Its easy to say that, but when people cant distinguish rumors from the truth (such as thinking... say... that whatever you hear about people reveals their true colors...) then it can fuck up a person pretty bad. Ive seen it happen to people where their "friends" dont know if they can trust them, all the sudden everyone around doubts who they really are... and that can mess a person up. All because some ignorant gabby person feels like spreading around some shit they have no clue about. I hate that kinda bullshit
