TURN DOWN THE SUCK.

Fuck XP. This is the fourth time in a row I've had to shut down due to the RPC being killed.

WHY MUST I SHUT DOWN? TURN IT BACK ON IDIOTS!

Go to Services under Control Panel, select RPC, get its Properties. Select the Recovery tab and under the First Failure dropdown select Restart the Service (its probably currently set to Restart the Computer).

But yes, Microsoft should still turn down the suck. ;)

Also if RPC keeps crashing it sounds like you might be infected with the Blaster worm or a variant.

Not really when it comes to Microsoft products. I have no Windows box of my own and I most recently had to install XP on my parental's comp.

Frankly, though, I have very little confidence in an operating system whose installer crashed three times before I could get it to work.

I hate "features" and much prefer "options". Bloody Microsoft hurts my brain. I've had nothing but headaches with this thing since I got it installed.
