Hey Truth... I just saw this post or I would have replied sooner.

As you used me as an example of your point, I feel it only appropriate that I reply.

--- You are correct that many people come together to make Twisted parties happen. I certainly am one to praise all those involved to make the shows happen that we put on -- on every occasion I certainly do that here on Fnk especially with the DJ who without them, we wouldn't have a party!

--- If you are curious to know exactly what I do for Twisted and my level of personal involvement with the company, I would be more than happy to meet up with you for a beer/coffee and chat face to face or if you have MSN, PM me with your details and we can chat via that medium.

--- I agree entirely that Soma, Mateo, Ninewells, Ryan Ross, Omega_Image and Hirshee are all AWESOME DJ's... I have heard them all at one point or another. I am getting around to booking as many of them as I can within the confines that are placed upon me. -- Keep in mind Azim is very loyal to those signed to Twisted but as you will note, lately I have been starting to bring in more DJ's outside of that circle. -- Keep in mind though that Twisted is a business and we need to insure that the line-up, filled with locals or headliners must sell tickets.

I don't think I will pick apart the rest of your post as I don't know which of your points were directed at me, and what was just a general statement. IE: implying I "sucked someones dick to get where I am." -- That is definitely not the case... I was hired by Azim based on my business background and Marketing/Sales experience.

Anyway... not sure if you were looking to see a reply from me, but if I haven't answered any of your questions/points that you were looking to have answered, let me know.

i know i'm just re-stating some things that have already been posted in those threads, but who gives a shit.

i mean you have djs all over this board who act like they are the best djs in the world. or know all there is to know about their specific genre. sure i'd love all the attention and "fame" that comes along with dj'ing, but you have to remember not to let it get to your head.

one thing that really pisses me off about this city is that nothing is based on skill or hard work anymore (for the most part) its who your connected with and who's dick you've sucked long enough. 1 outa every 20 posts is either praising a dj / promoter for the last show they played at / party they threw. for instance i see that kraig is getting all the recognition for twisted parties, yeah he may have a lot to do with throwing them and what not, but aren't there tons of other people involved? ie. azim, tazix, so on and so forth.

i think alot of the djs in this city are totally underated and unappreciated. for instance dj's like soma, mateo, ninewells, ryan ross, omega image, hirshee, etc etc. all dont get the recognition they deserve. maybe this is just my point of view, i've seen these guys "bust their asses" to try and get places. honestly if i were a dj i would not want to have a career here. it would be so limiting.

the only djs i see getting anywhere are people like tazix, christian alvarez, and dave armstrong. why is that? yeah they all are great at what they do but i think alot of other people deserve chances as well.

sorry for babbling just wanted to get this off my chest, and to everyone out there tryin to get somewhere or do something, keep on trucking!

everyone does it at one point or another, may not be for long, but its always there

the one thing i'm going to have to argue tho is that if no other djs get booked, how can they show off their talent? and if they cant show off their talent then they have no way of selling tickets, it does take a few shows for names to get out. maybe instead of booking a different dj everytime have them play a few shows each in rotation?

im not out to hate or to point fingers its just frustrating seeing so many things done, what i think is, wrong.

I totally agree with you Truth but also keep in mind that Twisted isn't the only production company throwing shows. The scene is actually picking up in that regard with different and newer production companies doing different types of shows - a lot of which post on F&K as well. I am sure that this will be the case over time as more of these DJ's being are booked for various events including Twisted events.

I must admit that it's easy to see things in a certain way when looking in from the outside but in all honesty I can tell you you'd see them a lot differently if you were the one running things. My advice to anyone looking to get their name out there as a DJ is to get involved with the production side of things and start promoting them selves. Either that or through producing your own music are the 2 main ways of getting recognition. Otherwise no matter how good you are it's unlikely anyone will know who you are and you will not get booked. Also the whole bit that people only get booked by kissing ass is just what little whinners that don't get booked say.
