Insomnia Parking Ticket Anyone?

Ok so here's my story...

Yeah so being unorganized on Saturday night I didn't make it to Insomnia soon enough to get into the underground parking (it was full @ 11:00pm). So I had to park across the street in that pay parking by BC Place. Mental note, "Matt get your act together next time."

I soon found out that the ticket machine was busted. So I decided to take my chances along with everyone else and park there with not ticket, thinking to myself, "what, are they going to give everyone a ticket?"

So, surprise surprise...going out to my truck after Insomnia... I was greeted with a $40-$70 parking ticket. (depending on how soon I pay it) Not looking at it too closely I just assumed that since my truck was the last one in the lot it was an easy target for a ticket.

However, looking at the ticket later that day, I saw that it was issued at 1:46am Sunday morning...meaning that the lot would have still been full....of ravermobiles.

Anyways, I'm just curious if anyone else parked there and got a ticket as well, or if the wonderful people at Imperial Parking Canada Corporation just decided to make and example of me.

damn i would NEVER not pay for a parking spot in that area..especially when its a pay parking. no excuses. i got a ticket after kiss and i paid it off right away.. totally my fault for not reading the parking lot times... stupid ticket expires at 6am.

im sure everyone in the lot got a ticket, but if i were you id call impark and tell them about ure situation about the machine being broken. they SHOULD give u some slack..but u shouldn't have parked there.

also parked at a pay parking place... bought a ticket, but expired @ 6am. i walked outta the party at 6:30am, and found myself the same ticket! not only that... but there were two patrol guys walking around giving EVERYONE a parking ticket! half the cars already had tickets... and they just kept on goin!! :finger:

I did the same thing.

I wrote a note saying the machine wouldnt work and the office for the number listed was closed.

still got ganked!

Wow, so they really did give almost everyone a ticket. Or everyone there after 6:30am, and those without tickets at all. (like me!) Ok, I'm glad I know now. More inscentive to get there early next time!!

At Kiss I saw the Tow Truck make like 6 trips to tow people away... damn Parking Nazis... almost as bad as they are in Victoria or White Rock.

Same thing happened to me. Looked for parking for like an hour finally found the lot accros from the dome. came out at around 8:15 forgot it expired at 6:00 am Fuck !!!!

Yeah I've learned my lesson now. I'm always Sketchy about Parking anywhere overnight out in the open. But I guess I should consider myself lucky that I didnt get towed. That would be the last thing I would need to deal with after a rave.

Almost makes me wonder if they intentionally leave the meters broken for a few extra days knowing theres an all night event coming up, and then have their henchmen out in force that night.

Those fines will bring in more profits than the standard ticket fees.

I got one cause apparently my pass that was valid till noon the next day expired at 6 AM
and during KISS I got one for having it up the wrong way when it fuckign wasnt!! :finger: :finger:

We parked in the underground parking lot and didn't realize our ticket expired at 6am, that's retarded, the attendant fully knew everyone parking there was going to the party and didn't bother to remind us. We left at about 7:30am and every single car that was there had a ticket. I also saw two asian guys walking around when we were leaving, apparently their car had been stolen, I guess it could have been worse.

I doubt highly that anywhere in Hinduism it is a sacred act to give ravers parking tickets

PS i don't know of any impark lot that gives out tix to park past 6 am by BC Place ...so i wonder where you got the idea of noon from - maybe you should learn to read the signs yourself!

Oh, so even the underground parking expieres at 6am huh. I guess I must have just lucked out before or something cause I've never gotten a ticket from parking there after 6 before. Damn, not safe anywhere.

It must be about the location though. When I used to hit up Plaza parties in 2001 (before I knew about the underground) I'd sit my old beater at the Scott Road park and ride, and train it in, knowing that the parking expires at 11pm or 1am or something, and get back at 9am the next morning with no problems every time. I don't think I'd do that anymore though....eehh.

Hmm so whats more cost effective... paying $20 to park underground and get a ticket or don't pay anything at all and get a ticket! ha ha. Or just get my ass out before 6 I guess.

if you dispute the ticket cause the machine was broken i'm sure they'll cut you some slack there... i did that once and they just got rid of my ticket entirely

who cares if the attendant knew or not? it's not his/her responsibility to remind people of how long they'll be parking for.

read the signs, if you can't read signs and see parking goes to 6am, then it's your fault for getting the ticket.

it's no one else's responsibility but your own.
