I think, however, that you only hate to be the same. For I believe that all these pop-culture speeches are all details. The world sparks nature and nature has a quest for greed. Greed is the grand-daddy of all consumptions. This is no news. You can hate it all you want, and resist all you want (like you said), but what good can it do?
You can not dispute with the fact that a world without competition, greed, and consumption, is somewhat black and white.
I agree with you for the most parts. But I actually do not mind to live in a world which “labels its geniuses by the brand of their cars and describes its beauty princesses in their breast-waist-hips size”. This fact allows me to think and be different. This is what you seek of this situation as well: to be different. And this alone, I believe, is like planting a seed for competition. And as long as there is competition, there is greed, which not surprisingly points back to consumption.
I was volunteering at Adbusters last week, and I found myself drowning in a conversation with Kalle Lasn (the founder of Adbusters Mag). After almost 45 minutes of argument, he concluded that their manifestos are to keep the culture mind active. And that is it. I have been wondering ever since… what’s with all the effort? And I can conclude with only one answer, which does not satisfy me.

I am not disputing that the world might be deemed boring otherwise. It is, however, my ability to learn and manipulate everything about this world to suit my needs. This doesn't mean I cannot hate it. Even if I hate MS, I still use Windows sometimes. I exploits as many weaknesses as I can find usually, and maybe that does not make me all that different. But we can trace back everything to social Darwinism in the end, and the winners always learn to adapt and use.
I can hate regardless of that. I could still hate once I climb on top of the world - or maybe rot away on the East side. The ability to be different... does that exist?

As for manifestos against the pop-cult... I think they're there so you do not forget that, even as a child of this 'culture', there are still options. You still have some decissions you can/need to make for yourself.

Anyway maybe more on this later, we'll see.

i hate making bad decisions. decision that create procrastination ie. i'll do it later. i hate getting high when i shouldn't. i hate wasting time with people who are dead beats. and i hate boy band music
