Library Police!!!

Here is an excerpt from the letter I recieved this morning from the Vancouver Public Library:

'Dear ROBYN ANN DICKENSON,

Our records show that you have an outstanding balance of $81.60 at the time this letter was printed.

...blah, blah, blah...

If the marterial is not returned and/or charges are not paid within 14 days of this letter it may be forwarded to our COLLECTION AGENCY (wtf?!?!)."

THE LIBRARY IS SENDING HIRED GOONS AFTER ME.

Seriously, when did librarians get so hardcore? Say goodbye to robyn, she is going to library jail.

That happened to me when I lost some book on Charles Custer (that Indian killing bastard) when I was moving. I had completely forgotten until I got that lovely letter!

The weird part is I'm convinced I returned all my books. HOW DO I FIGHT THE LIBRARY SYSTEM???

you can put in a 'claimed return' with the library and be able to provide information on like, when you approximately returned it and all that.

I know this because I actually did take back my books once, so it was their bad in the end.

But you know what? Even if you have to pay them, feel GOOD about it, it means BOOKS, MORE BOOKS!

I'll just start going to libraries in a different municipatlity. North Van and Vancouver are out, but that still leaves a world of options!

what i do is spend ALL day at the library so i don't have to check anything out, freeing myself of any responsibility!!!

then again my study ethics kinda lack and i'm now a college drop out, so maybe taking books home would be better...ehh nevermind, anyways...

robyn, beat the system! don't limit yourself too public libraries, you can always hit up the colleges and universities round town! (but you can't rent em books, only photocopies)

Ahahah! I used to do that ALL THE TIME. I can't take books out at my school because I never feel like spending the $10 dollars to get a student card, which doubles as a library card.

FUCK IT I'M DROPPING OUT OF SCHOOL.

UPDATE: The library system didn't fail me. It turns out I really did manage to accrue $80 in late fees.

ack that happened to me too. I kicked up a huge fuss and apparently if you get it down to 50 or so they stop bothering you. but still. freaking jerks. I could be spending money on far nicer things. like the cultivation of a splendid hangover.
