If you are on windows XP ..right when you turn your computer on and you get to your desktop , right click My Network Places, goto properties, right click Local Area Connection, goto Properties, then Advanced and make sure the Internet Connection Firewall is checked on....then do windows update.. or get a geeky guy friend who has a router to hook it up to your computer and run windows update
