Spare us the spectacle, please

So lately I can admit I've been pretty annoyed with the increase in fnkers making huge fucking spectacles of no longer posting. Admittedly, lots of the people that do these things are my friends, but really, I still stand firm with the fact that it's really annoying when people make any kind of deal of it.

Like, if you want to get away from a messageboard/the people/the scene, then just leave quietly. If its something you no longer wish to participate in, then why is all of that even neccesary? A goodbye post? A pact with friends? Maybe there's a bigger deal to this whole posting on fnk thing than I can really comprehend. The spectacle is really, really unnecessary.

Here's what I remember from doing something similar many years ago...

It's the cry-for-attention thing going on... or delusions of grandeur... or a combination thereof.

It was cheesy and stupid when I did it in 2001, it's still cheesy and stupid. And furthermore, if you make a big deal out of it, you can really piss off your friends.... I know I did, and I feel real remorse for having essentially told a bunch of close people to me "I don't want to be your friend anymore."

The melodrama is not necessary. Because you'll probably be back. Trust me.

Maybe it's kinda like telling you friends you are going home after a house party? Yea they will know you are gone if they can not find you, but some times It's nice to say good-bye. True it does not apply to all the drama goodbye post, but a good wack.

I think I just generally have a problem with people who can't take an action/make a decision in their life without making a total spectacle of it.

exactly.

even more so when people make proclamations that they hardly ever follow through with. because you know that 3/4 of the people who make a big deal about leaving fnk anyways end up coming back and posting a week later.
