always save ure stuff always.
i find on photoshop especially if u spent a lot of time on a piece.. the second time u whip up a nicer version too, especially with the skills acquired from the first trial.

I'm always amazed that despite using a sizable scratch disk that photoshop doesn't just save what you working on with all the history as you work, it can't be THAT hard to impliment

^^definately sucks. i think the only adobe design prog that does it is indesign. illustrator wipes it too =(. if you care about your work enough ud be click save every few seconds.

You know what all programs like Word and Photoshop need? A feature that automatically saves your work for you every 20 minutes or so, or perhaps you could even set at what intervals you would like your work to be saved.

I find sometimes that when I'm writing a paper, or messing with a photo I get so absorbed after a while I forget to do something basic such as saving every now and then.

Yup, would defenitely come in handy...

^ actually, word already has that. at least, the newer versions anyways (i have a pretty new version of office).

you can set autorecover to save it every however many minutes you like (it's changeable) and you can set it to always create a backup copy.

it's quite useful. there have a been a time or two i've crashed my comp near the end of a paper, but when i restart and open word i can load it up and it's SUCH a relief.
