Was I surprised last year, when a system dumped something like 250-300 mms of rain on the lower mainland over the course of 3 days? Was I surprised when a piece of the sea to sky highway washed away into the ocean, stranding me in Whistler? Was I surprised to encounter a storm, in my lifetime, that "experts" said should only happenin this area once every 200 years or so?

Am I surprised that something similar might be moving in, the very next year?

Yeah, I guess I'm bit surprised.

I feel for you Dave!

Its like when I'm going to work in the morning and dreading a day at the job, if the weather is particularly crappy I always think of you, and other people who have to work outside and think that things could be a loooot fucking worse.

You're a trooper Dave! You survived a nasty winter last year!

The amount I worry about myself is about 100th as much as I worry about people in general.. friends and family whose homes are prone to flooding... people dying in accidents...

Don't worry about me. Wet clothes dry out.. cold hands get warm after the day is over.

I dunno... empathy is a bitch. If I was only concerned with my own welfare, I'd barely give a shit about it all.

Oh well. It begins shortly. Head down, grin and bear it...

SNOW!!!! It means i have to two hours To school... and two and a half hours HOme... In the dark... In the snow... (i live on a mountain) WOOO HOO! stupid no 4 wheel drive.
I hope that the whole weather thing gets a lot better for you grape. *hands you a pair of knitted gloves*

Global warming? Hmmmm... it was the worst year for hurricanes in the US and there's actually been an increase in extreme weather globally.

Some island in the pacific... I think it was Taiwan... just experienced their first December typhoon in 100 years.

We had our wettest September in recorded history this year. And this year compared to LAST year has been relatively tame!

There's a couple of quotes I remember from reading articles on the subject. One scientist, observing the data on climate change, remarked: "It's pretty obvious something is happening". Another article had a rather poignant quote about the subject of climate change.. "It's not a question of maybe anymore.. we're staring it in the face."

Come on now... Assuming you weren't busy at work, how could I possibly drag someone out on one of THOSE kinds of days.. when they're no doubt home in PJs playing video games where they roll over millions of objects to increase their diameter.
