computer's hate me!

okay so this morning befor I go to school Im listening to my music and everythings fine. I get home from school today and start listening to more of my music and now one of my speeker's isn't working!
First it was the CD burner.
no my speeker's geeze....this sucks!

throw your speaker on the ground really hard... should help.

1) make sure its not panned (set so only one speaker is playin)
2) make sure its connected properly
3) smash it

Actual troubleshooting: Find out where the problem actually is. Got headphones? Plug 'em into the speaker jack. Still not hearing anything? It's not the speakers.

Check volume control settings. Doubleclick that little speaker in the bottom right near your clock, check for any muted channels, etc.

Try a different program (don't have more than one program to test your sound card? Fix that). Try rebooting your computer (Actually shut it down, turn it off, leave for 10 seconds and turn it back on. Power cycles the sound card).

It's funny cuz i know this guy who takes his computer to london drugs and pays an outrageous amount of money to get his computer fixed, and all they do is take his cd and reinstall windows. haha.

If it is a hardware problem with your speakers, try reinstalling your drivers. Look for new ones on the internet by finding the model number of your soundcard and googling it. Also take into account new software you installed recently just before it stopped working.
