Forget everything you have ever heard about home remedies!
Just go straight to your doctor and have him prescribe you "zovirax".
It's a creme you apply with a q-tip. The cold sore will be gone in about 3 days with no pain. If you catch it right away the sore won't even be able to form.
I think it costs about 15 bucks, but it's the best money you'll ever spend.

k well i went to the doc and it's a confirmed case. asked him to prescribe something but he told me that it was too late and that i have to let the little guy party on my lip until he drys up :|

I usually go to walk-ins, they hand out scripts for anything, it's like
assembly-line medicine.

As for the herpes thing, 2 out of 3 people have herpes simplex 1. It's the kind that produces cold sores. Don't know the stats for simplex 2.

Oh and just a footnote:
A weightlifter friend of mine told me that the supplement L-argenine causes cold sores like crazy, so if you get them, avoid it!

went to another clinic and got a script for valtrax. took my first pill a couple of minutes ago. hopefully w/in the next couple of days i'll be cs freeeeeeeeee

type 1 can also appear in the genitals and type 2 can also appear orally.

^^Yeah I'v heard they can cross contaminate. Man wouldn't That be a nightmare. Although I'm told they don't break out as much when it happens.

valtrex and zovirax are both antivirals and work pretty much the same way. in fact, even their generic names are similar (acyclovir and valacyclovir)!

most people get it before they are 7 years old. it's really common, tho not everyone gets the sores.
