being called ma'am

i've noticed that i've been getting called this more and more often. it's starting to make me feel really old. :( which doesn't make sense, because people always think i'm only about 16.

who calls a 16 year old ma'am? what happened to miss?

why am i feeling old when i haven't even had my 20th birthday!? (3 months!)

I don't appreciate being called "sir". Store rules maybe? Like in a store maybe the policy is that cashiers must call all adult customers "sir" or "madam".

And how can I get her phone# if she calls me "sir" :(

i know.. i've noticed more and more people are calling me lady and stuff like that.. like "watch out.. the lady needs to get by"

and i'm looking around me to see who they are talking about, takes me a second to realize who they are talking about

even though i am 21 now.. but still.. i don't feel ready for the adult formalities yet

i don't find lady so bad, but i'm still not used to it.

ma'am just seems to me like something you call a 60 year old woman. hah it just doesn't feel right to be called that, and it makes me feel old.

i don't look like a ma'am :(

I don't mind being called 'Sir'... could be because I was called 'Sir' for about 3 years when I was in Cadets.
