Argh! My stupid school/class made me take out my barbell ring! :(

Appearantely according to them...No one in the industry will hire you if you have any facial piercings aside from earings...Like wtf?
Just cause you have a eyebrow ring/barbell doesn't label you as a punk/bum does it???

*sigh* I shaved off my mohawk too! :(

Does anyone work at a job where they ALLOW you to have facial piercings on? Eg. eyebrow piercing? Labret/lips pierced etc etc?

Peter... what classes/job are do you have?

I've always taken out my eyebrow piercing and labret for work. Not because anyone has ever told me I had to, but just because I don't think it is something very professional for my job, and working primarily amongst adults, I know some of them will pass judgement because of them (even if they never say anything). When I'm working to gain respect and be taken seriously from senior co workers, I don't need anything that's going to give them a reason to think of me as some punk kid. It's never bothered me though. I've had mine long enough that I can have them out for a full day without them closing up too much.

Matt I've had my barbell for like over 4mnths? Dunno just seemed like when I took it out on Tuesday it seemed pretty hard for me to put it back on myself? Like the holes are so small obviously and it's I mean do I have to somehow stretch the skin out and put it in again?
To much hassle I guess?

My work place doesn't care...*haha* I work @ ADP Canada in MetroTown in the office towers...

BUT I just started school this past Tuesday @ VCC for Culinary Arts...And they won't allow it! :(

...ohh, yeah 4 months isn't long enough to be taking it out for any period of time. You could try using a retainer...although those things suck and are pretty obvious still.

My work is fine with me having my nose pierced, but the 'big boss lady' is opposed to my tongue ring. Me being who I am have quietly refused to, and she hasn't even noticed it since. But what I was going to do is go to a piercing place and see if I could get a plug (I think that's what they're called) for the hole.

If you don't like the rules VCC imposes then don't bother dealing with the real world. It'll chew you up and spit you out.

You have to realize that if you work for someone YOU represent THEM.

Not everyone cares for piercings, tattoos, coloured hair, etc.

Just because one company tolerates it doesn't mean everyone else does.

uhm dude,I know alot of chefs in the industry and they all have sleeves,their ears stretched out,septum rings etc etc etc.

Your instructors at VCC can get into shit for doing that,id take it up with the head of VCC if I were you.
