So this morning there was a procession going down Burrard Street because there was an honorable funeral for a fallen Canadian Hero Ernest "smokey" Smith, recipient of the VC.

This funeral involved quite a military procession going down Burrard St, which yes, involved closing the street to traffic for a few hours. As I was walking to work down another street which was congested with traffic, I heard a lot of frustrated drivers honking, yelling, and swearing. This happened even AFTER an apologetic traffic officer explained exactly why there was the holdup.

Like I am sorry your saturday morning schedule has been offset for about oh, 15 minutes, but seriously, what fucking planet are you from? This guy put his life on the line, like millions of others to ensure that these fucking brats can enjoy their freedom, so their biggest worry on saturday morning is getting somewhere a little late.

Actually he didn't give up his life, he died 60 years later living a full life.

I read about how he got that victoria cross and that guy is really brave, but then again all the men who fought and died over seas were brave.
