it's 12:30 am and i'm still at work and probably will be till like 4 or 5 in the morning :-(

meh - it's par for course for the games industry - I've been doing this type of gig for 6 years now and i'm just getting a little sick of it as I have discovered the greatness of "having a life". At least I get paid hourly unlike a lot of salary guys in the industry...

you basicly have anywhere from 4->10 years in an intense "job as life" field before you burn out

the money is great, but cant keep you going forever

I couldn't handle those kinds of expectations.... I have too much stuff I want to do. My attitude has always been that I work so I can enjoy life. If you're working all the time you're hardly enjoying the payoff from all your time invested.

I think I could handle it if I got compensated properly, like with a little more than OT pay. At my work in some situations you can bank ot towards more days off, which I really like!

it's kind of like "hey we will let you work on really really cool shit, and pay you good money, but we basically own your entire fucking life."

at least for me.

i envy people who can leave work at work.

actually, i got over the notion of "job-as-life" a long time ago... It's just that in this industry, overtime like that happens... when i was in EA, it was more or less mandatory - nowadays, i'm just working those hours to get this fucking project done so i can go back to having a life...
