tip: get a 2-button mouse. Makes the transition a lot easier.

If your used to Windows, then using OSX on anything less than a G5 with a blazingly fast videocard can be a real pissoff. Buttons and menus take a bit more time to open when you click them, just enough to make it feel like there's a 10 inch sheet of bulletproof plexiglass between you and the computer. And every program you open adds an inch or so.

But yeah... you get used to it after awhile... and the bulletproof BSD kernel is a nice change from crashy old windows :)

Lenny is on a distinguished road
take the time to learn the shortcuts for os x and customize your prefs so your computer works the way you want it to. I found having someone show me around right off the bat helped quite a bit as well.

I just switched from pc to mac, (a g4 powerbook) and I dont find this at all. It takes pretty much the same amount of time to open apps as it did on my pc. Also, one of the huge differences I found was that no matter how many programs I have going, doing alot of shit I might add, I can still operate like nothing else is going on in the background...

As for the user friendly-ness- It just takes a bit to get used to it, like a few days work on it downloading programs and checking things out and then its easy as hell. I actually much prefer the mac platform now that I know how to use it.

Totally agree, if you know someone with a mac, get them to spend 15 minutes showing you some of the cool features and it'll make things a lot quicker.

At first it did seem like it was moving really slow or not at all... from what I notice when you click on somthing or want to go into it, theres no real obviouse notivication that its doing somthing. Therefore I can see why it seems like its doing nothing or 'slower'? When really its just the same or faster.

Slowly but surly getting use to it and leanring to costomize. Im sure in a few weeks ill love it to death... however so far it did somthing funny with the colour of my screen and its killing my eyes :(
