So, after spending about 26 bux which I can hardly afford on getting more ethernet cable and an adapter I discover that now I need a router. :344: And there is no way in hell I can afford a router right now, not for another few weeks at least. *grumble*

When you're looking 25'+, that shit ain't cheap. Unless you buy bulk, but you'll be paying $26 for the crimper anyways.

I bought an adapter as well, which was about $13- the cable was only $10.

I didn't need 50 ft Jay, only 10. =P

incidentally, are you trying to share a connection? Is that why you need a router? If not, you should be able to plug directly from your comp to the cable modem. If you're sharing with a friend, you ought to get 2 cables (which you'll need anyway for a router) and switch off the cables until you can afford one...

Someone must have an old (3 or 4 year old) router kickin around. Lots of people bought those routers back then, and now have switched to a wireless router.

I already gave away my old router.

Try an ad on Craigslist electronics section or the "wanted" section.
