haha last week i went to a restaurant for dinner and everytime the waitress came around, she'd call one of us, "hon" or "sweetie" or something like that. i mean it's not a big deal, but it's a little patronizing when you say it EVERYTIME.

Take your job for example;

Someone from another department calls you who you don't know, to requisition a printer, and during the call she calls you 'Love' several times. That is hardly professional.

I hear women do it a lot, and I don't know if they do it cause they think it is cutesy, but it makes me want to kick them in the teeth.

My boss lady calls me 'hun' or 'darlin' all the time. It is meant very sincerely and doesn't come off as the slightest bit patronizing. I hardly think it takes away from her authority either. If anything it humanizes her a bit, makes her more approchable. She is still very much the boss but I never think twice about having to talk to her about anything....
