I went to sambas with a party of 30 people on saturday. It was a friends 23rd and had reservations for 6:45. Anyway. The food was great but the service lacked right off the bat. We had to ask the waitress to bring water and we were all well into our meals by the time it came out. So judging by the water you could imagine how long it took to bring alcohol. When the meal was finished our table of 15 got together and figured out the bill. The bill had a list of everything but was in no specific order so we had to split it up ourselves. ( I have been to many parties and have never had to do this) When we asked the waitress she said sorry and that her computer sucks. Some people payed debit and others paid cash or credit but we gathered all the receipts together and accounted for everything. I was the last to pay and to my surprise the waitress said we were 60 dollars short. I figured there was no way we could be short since we figured it all out before hand. But she wouldnt budge and since it was only myself, the girlfriend, and a few others left i figured I would be the one to take care of it. But not without a few words to the manager. Now lets go back to the other table. These guys were 200 dollars short so the birthday girl coughed up the money no contest and everything was fine. Something I noticed throughout the dinner was how much the manager attempted to flirt with the birthday girl. It was harmless at first but it began to get a bit creepy after the 6th free drink.
I spoke to him about the bill and mentioned how much I had to cough up and how I wasnt impressed with the service etc. He was very good to me and said that he would give me a free dinner or pay me the money out of his pocket if the bill was wrong. I knew very well what that meant and knew that I didnt want to get into it in front of a bunch of people eating there. So I ate it(no pun intended) and left with hope that he would call me the next day. As I was leaving I saw him outside joking around with my friends. They were in good spirits and the birthday girl mentioned how she had to cough up 200 dollars at the end of the night. The manager reached into his pocket pulled out a stack of hundreds and slipped one into my friends button up dress shirt. She was drunk and replied with wheres the rest of it whcih I didnt quite hear the reply to. This made me sooooo mad. The fact that I coughed up 60 dollars and complained about it formally only to have him "look into it" when some girl bats her eyelashes and hes already slipping 100s into her bra. WTF. Now im stuck with what I should do next? All I want is my money back so should I ask the manager again or go higher up. This guy was obviously jsut the floor manager and I could definatley make a point if I went to someone else but I dont want to cause trouble. argh.

raise hell.
go higher than him, get him in shit.
his behaviour was very unprofessional and could get him fired.
the waitress clearly was inept, and the floor manager should have been made to go over the entire bill to correct any problems.
anything short of that is reprehensible and should be reported to the higer ups, whoever they are.

some people just plain ole' suck.

clearly the person serving you should not be in that position. some people understand and pick up serving right away........others never get it!

to begin......if you have a big party like that.......put out glasses of water BEFORE they get there! then you save hella time........you have no idea how long 30 waters takes to pour and serve......a few trips from the bar for sure!

and her being unorganized with your bill shouldn't be your fault. no matter how shitty the computer system is........there's ALWAYS seat #'s! she just isn't organized enough, or doesn't give herself enough time to punch orders in(which means she SUCKS)! haha. fuck......some people just shouldn't serve, i work with so many retards.

anyway..........raise hell...........

i would have just set out full glasses and pitchers.
makes sense to me...
some people just don't think though.

like at the track.
after training is over our grooms go and take care of their 5 horses each.
some think to grab everything they'll need for all their horses from the tack room when they're in their at first.
others continue to run back and forth, wasting time, LOTS of time.

man it always sucks when you're the one who has to foot the missing part of the bill when you're among the last at a large party, I had to do that on my birthday a few years ago because some people left early and left an amount just covering their own stuff, without tax or autograt taken into consideration. suucks.

And it aaallways happens.

If you have a bill at a restaurant, and there's a whole bunch of people, once everyone has put in you will always be short of a decent tip (or any tip at all)... and that's when everyone has to go re check "shit, how much did I put in.. I thought I was good" and someone's obviously not good but no one can figure out who it was.

The worst is what you're talking about, when a bunch of people have left and therefore can't be included in the re assesment... And you KNOW that it's going to end up that way but you can't be a dick and go "Umm.. actually, can you guys not leave yet? Because I bet the bill's going to be short and I want you to still be here when we sort that out"

^ This works if you remember to do it at the very start of the meal. (and if the waitress remembers). Not so much when you're sitting there with the bill and 5 or 6 people have already left.

i'd say it's a given when it's clear not everyone's "together" they split it up...I don't know any place that you have to define it as seperate bills these days.
