Dickheads at hick bars.

So I checked out the Roadhouse tonight. . it's one of the two dive bars (which are the only bars) in ol' Fort Nelson. All was swell, I didn't even make it two feet past the bouncer at the door before I had a shot and a beer put in my hand. Drinks were on everyone but me tonight for some reason (I actually came out with more money than I went in with).

Then they drop this sick funky breaks remix of Ch-Check It Out by the Beastie Boys sp I hit the dance floor, which was empty save for two drunk chicks dance-fucking in the corner, and start to have a blast. Next thing I know, there's people all around me kind of dancing but really more socializing to the beat. When I dance, my dreads flail around a bit - it's unavoidable. So this chick walking by gets clipped and I stop to apologize (I know it's probably annoying to have some random dude's hair whack you in the face) but her boyfriend decides to take a swing at me and tells me to "get my faggity ass hair out of the bar."

Needless to say, I didn't swing back since it's not my way (and my cousin is the DJ/bartender so he was dealt with quickly) but I walked away wishing I had tuned him for every jackass in this town that's ever given me a hard time for not conforming to their redneck criteria.

Is it really that big of a deal? I apologiezd for the whacking of the dreads and all that seemed to do was piss him off more.

I need to get back to the civilized world. At least I got a mean drunk going on.

Third mistake, well, not so much the action but the philosophy. Go learn how to defend yourself. If buddy took a second swing and connected you'd probably be singing a different tune.

Fourth mistake: Mistaking a top40 hick bar for a rave. Seriously, few things more annoying than the one guy in the bar that's flailing around like crazy and bumping into everybody, especially if nobody else is really dancing that heavily. Yes, it's easy to "lose yourself in the music" but save it for when everybody else is (ie when people are doing drugs far heavier than liquor).

Just sayin'. There's a time and a place for acting like a raver. Doing it in a hick bar is just likely to get you beaten.
