Poker beat. out played definately... poorly played?

Ok so i'm at the casino playing 1-2 NL. Bought in 200, up to 350. Get dealt JJ on the button. a couple of folds, a couple calls, and then a 10 dollar bet from the guy sitting 2 seats to my right. Directly to my right calls I raise to 35. 4 callers including the two to my right. the flop came 6, 9, 10 rainbow and was checked all the way around. I bet 50. 2 folds, two to my right pushes all in(A Little history on my read on the guy. i had him pegged as a maniac, but I think he was actually a very good fakiac. he was in chip lead at the time, and i had witnessed 4 of his all in's. 2 of the time he pushed all in, he stared down his opponent, his opponent folded, and he flipped over garbage. the other two times he stared at the board, got called, and had the nuts) The player directly to my right folded, and when the player two over that put me all in pushed it in, he said i put you all in, reffering to myself, and stared at me. I saw the straight on the board, but was fairly sure he wouldn't raise then call a re raise pre flop with a 7-8. I read him with a pair with an ace kicker, that he had madea real estate bet in late position with an ace high, then after a few callers was given odds to call 25 extra, and now was trying to scare me off the pot. i called, and he indeed flipped over 7-8 off suit. two bricks came, i lost 350 in the pot. In my opinion he just simply out played and out smarted me, probably noticed that I was patiently watching the table, and gave me a very good fake tell, after setting a trap to check raise me all in.
any one else think i made any huge mistakes on the hand?

Casino poker is wild and loose. a guy calling 35 pre flop with 78 is kinda crazy, but oh well. im definitely folding this hand, and putting the guy on a set of 9's or 10's. the average winning hand in hold em is 2 pair. you should be very wary of pushing your whole stack in the middle with just an over pair, unless you have AA or KK and you think the guy has QQ or JJ.
its a hard fold because of this guys image, but i think you need to do it.

It sounds like you put a bit too much confidence in your ability to read the guy that put you all in while ignoring a great deal of legitimate hands. AA, KK, QQ, JJ, 10 10, and 99 and a number of connecters could all be in play pre flop given that there were 4 callers to your $35 raise and especially because the "maniac" was in later position to your bet.

Youve got to give him some credit for his reraise on the flop. I definitly think that he had you totally set up.
