Need more ram.. suggestions?

I have a measly 256 I need waay more for producing it's getting annoying

etc .. I dno Im just cruisin ncix.com , how to I figure out how many pins I have? Gr I better not get compability issues with this dell.

just go to kingston's website, they have a guide where you just input your computer and model (unless you have a custom built machine?) and they'll basically show you what you should buy from kingston.

Just take the pin info and choose NOT to buy kingston lol. Shop A-Power!

ok so mine is dual 184 pin , so im just gunna get 2x512....

now the question is should i get corsair, kingston, ocz , samsung? off a-power

I'd go with samsung personally.

Just because Kingston is known for making crappy ram, and I just like samsung's products (i'm talking in the large scope, TVs, etc.) a lot.

2 x whatever will give better results than 1 x doubletheamounnt.

edit:
some systems won't let you run unbalanced, either, but I think those days are mostly gone now.

I've only got 512 in mine because i custom ordered from Dell, and knew the only thing I could easily upgrade in the future is ram (i've got a laptop). I got my laptop over a year ago, and now i'm really starting to feel the memory strain, i'll be upping it to at least a gig, maybe two, in the new year.

yeah ideally I want 2gig, but my machine will only let me have 1gig. im never buyin dell again hah, first I can't dual partition my drives now I can only have 1 gig.

ah well, I bought it a few years ago what can I expect. 1 gig should be enough for me.

fuck i just spent 5200$ on my comp @ ncix
4gigs of ram
dual 2.67ghz
and its running slower then my old comp....
and its almost been a month since i ordered my monitors and they still dont have a day for wen they will be in
im not 2 happy with them....
tho the comps going back 2 them 2morrow for the 2nd time
better be the last

Find out if its dual DDR, or just regular. if its dual DDR i suggest getting 2 x 512, no less than kingston brand. i havent really been keeping up with new ram technology.

well buildin a comp and orderin ram are 2 whole diff ballgames, Ill take whoever is cheaper.

sucks to say but that's what happens sometimes when you build custom rigs. shit just doesn't jive together.
