Nine Inch Nail mastermind Trent Reznor gets as giddy as a goth can get when discussing the upcoming April release of his new album reportedly called Year Zero. “With Teeth [NIN’s last release, check out our review here] was me kind of wondering if I could still even do this,” he said in a revealing recent interview. “I’ve got my confidence back. I feel stronger about what I have to say as an artist and I feel a lot less concerned about what people think about it…my best work’s ahead of me.” After tiring of patting his own back, Reznor went on to pontificate on another of his recent epiphanies: “Emo screamo!” he ranted in an oddly Dr. Seussian style. “If I happen to accidentally turn the radio on…I literally can’t tell the difference between one of 20 bands,” said a clearly exasperated icon. “Either I’m getting old, which is a fact, or I’m turning into my dad! I wonder about the person that’s in a band, the young kid who just got signed or is trying to get signed - why is he doing it? Is he trying to change the world and do something different and express himself…or is it because they want to fuck Paris Hilton and be photographed outside trendy restaurants?” Either option sounds artistically fulfilling. Which do you think is the reality?

When asked why the new record took less than two years to arrive when the last one took six, Reznor said, "I'm probably as surprised as some fans are (laughs). But really it's just a matter of discipline. When I was on the last tour, to keep myself busy I was just really hunkered down and was working on music the whole time, so this kept me in a creative mode and when I finished the tour I felt like I wasn't tired and wanted to keep at it."

NINE INCH NAILS will release a DVD called "Beside You In Time" on February 27. The disc documents the band's tour in support of "With Teeth".

Broken, very good choice. I lost the CD but have the sleeve dammit. Looking forward to see if he has steered this in a new direction or what. I liked some tracks more then others on, With Teeth.

Broken (as well as Fixed) were both sick! But Pretty Hate Machine is probably one of the few albums that I can listen to all the way thru without skipping tracks.

Choosing your fave NIN album is like trying to pick out your best orgasm ever... near impossible. I mean they were all pretty good but which one was BEST!?!?! hahaha

I know I'd have a hell of a time trying to pick my absolute favourite....

I've got a love for each of the albums.

But PHM stands out just because it was so forward thinking for the time.

The thing was recorded in the late 80's and basically structured the next 10 years of the Industrial Rock movement of the 90's.

Antichrist Superstar is my 2nd favorite Reznor work.

That shit was the pinnacle of music for me when I was young.

I put it before any Slayer even.

I read that Manson biography years ago, Manson and the rest of the manson family were all so fucked on coke the whole time Trent pretty much did all the work on A.S.

Then Manson let Billy Corgan destroy him, that shit fucking sucked !

Manson would be like Dethklok in real life if he had stuck with Trent.
