Lucy, I was in TO for a week and this is what I noticed.
TO doesn't seem to have a huge breaks scene. Not as big as VAncouver thats forsure. Jungle seems to be the choice of most DJ's. You should send your promo around TO, i'm sure TO needs a good breaks DJ. BUT TO does have a lot of record stores. :keebler: |

The Krafty kuts record is called "Peaches".Good slow tempo hiphopy style track..
Marradonna- Out of my head released on Funkwax Platinum is like a Florida attempt at nu skool but more along the lines of break step.. Kelly Reverb-To the beat yall.. Wickid disco breaks track! This is the type of shit im trying to scope out right now! The scotty marz mix is the one im diggin on this one! I havent heard of the flat out track unless it was released under another name...I have noticed that TO does get some tracks a little early but at the same time our boys at Hipnotik and Boomtown (and our local dedicated breaks djs)are all over the new shitt which sometimes we get the next day after its released by the label..Its great! Luce check out the new Icey that just got released on Friday, pretty dope shit!! Hope your having a good time out there = ) |

I'm the breaks buyer at Boomtown and yes the east generally get thier records a few days a head of us, but thats becuase they get their stuff from the same distributers in the east as us, so with the proximity of where they are they get them a couple of days ahead of us.
As for breaks in Toronto go to Eastern Bloc and pull on Robb G's pant leg, as well check Release Records. They are the best in getting UK promos well before anyone else, ask for Angus Robinson, he'll sort ya out. Hope that helps... |
