breaks: Cinto and Precise (ryan has ill scratching and sick sick tracks, eric just f-ing MAKES the sick tracks! ;)) totally different styles but they're both super solid.
house: Dave armstrong/Seven/Christian Alvarez. all their production is unreal. all their tracks are insane funk!! they are all untouchable imo, but close behind them all is Hirshee for sure. trance/hh: Kyle Joygazm. he played a wicked wicked set at summerlove 2001. DnB: seriously K-Pryde is where its at!! he has his own style and can just lay down the most serious insane funky, dark, rippin jungle you've ever heard. super solid. close behind is jungle souldier and mechwarrior. could i please see an intellegent reply to those who say trance is crap?
i dont want to see any "because it sucks" answers. and i fully agree with sean. please dont group trance and hh together. because theyre TOTALLY different, "crap" or not. :soak: anyway... breaks: czech dnb: i *heart* dj k-pryde... and ill-e-sha. cant forget her! trance: quite honestly i look up to all of them in different ways. i dont really have a fav. local

Yep... this has been done before, but all of these people deserve MASS props:
Breaks: Czech (duh), Precise (my mentor), Cinto (productions getting better, and better), Chipper DnB: Dabbler, Ill-Esha, Matt the Alien MC: Rukus House: Deliverance, Dave Armstrong, Christian Alvarez, Hirshee, Andy Clockwork Hard House/NU-NRG - although not living here any more, the dude was cutting edge in his time - Cliff Vermette. Trance - for mxing and sheer talent - Tazix. Did you read the reviews on his set before he opened for Anne Savage in Seattle? -- HUGE! Speed Garage - Scotty Oh!, Greg C, Oliver

Genre aside my general favorites would be; Czech, Matt the Alien, Jungle Souldier, Grooverobber and Soda. Then there's my sentimental favorites Luscious Lisa (she's coming home to visit in October) and Landon because I gave both of them their first gigs and I've seen them come so far since then.
Out of all of them though I think Grooverobber is the most underplayed in this city. Seriously the man's been rock solid for the last 5 years in this city and all these new kids come along and don't even know the guys name. He can throw down almost any style and do it well.

i totally forgot about ill-esha.............based on soda's tatse in tunes i'd say i like it.......although i have yet to hear him play
on a side note; vancouver needs some more diversity........i have actually considered playing house........i mean rhiannon had a good burn @ pound it when she said "i'm a breaks dj, i play all the same records as; precise, omega_image, kraig, cinto, etc" to which i had no comeback............

breaks- precise (he's the first local i recognized who got me obsessed with breaks and scratching...so so so impressive), obviously czech and form & kaos for their diversity (not just breaks) and madddd dmc skills by kev himself.
dnb- kpyde for the style of dnb that he plays..and his humble personality...and i LOVE watching ill-esha perform (she is the ultimate local womens representitive in the scene) ..fell in love with her voice at meowmix last year. house- christian alveraz (we totally take him for granted here in van), dj leanne..even though i haven't heard her in a while, and hirshee (always impressing). trance- i dont know my trance too well, but after seeing dennis tazix on saturday..yea im pretty blown away. hiphop- haven't really been exposed to many hiphop djs... but g-nius rocks. :kimmie: speed garage- scotty and greg c.. i can't get enough of speed garage. they both smile at me when they play, so they rock. astroglide's speed garage cd was awesome.. funfun approved.
