If yuu like house check out Dj Hyper - Bedrock Breaks 2 Fractured. It's progressive breaks and has a real housy feel to it. In terms of dancing Florida & Funky breaks is where its at. Nu Skool Breaks is darker, more for listening. If you wanyt some sets check out Mc Hammered's ftp site, I've u/led a lot of different styles of break. |

What are you TALKING about???? Go to the links page on NUBREAKS and have a look at some of the artists and websites listed. There's more than enough talent there to blow any other genre off the map. House has been and will always be huge because it's simple and really easy to dance to, therefore being more accessible on a global scale. However, underneath everything, breaks has always been a force to be reckoned with. It surfaces every once in a while and becomes really popular (i.e. the Big Beat boom which spurred guys like the Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim to superstar status), and goes underground again, but it will never go away. That's just the way I like it anyway. You don't get as much ego or attitude in the breaks scene like you do in the house scenes. It attracts a more "hidden" kind of crowd and it feels like it's something that belongs more to you and some of your closest friends than a giant, faceless demographic. (apologies for the rant...*whew!* Where did that come from?) |

nu skool breaks mixed with progressive house is definately where it's at unless you're a speed junkie who can't handle any music that's under 145bpms, in which case you're a geek anyways and don't deserve to listen to well produced music such as Hybrid's breaks or James Holden's house
as for breaks being boring, if you're comparing Adam Freeland as your source for what breaks should sound like then you're bound to be dissapointed because even I get bored of Adam Freeland's crappy repetative breaks try different artists out from different styles, like DJ Stew if you like funky stuff, Si Beggs if you like crazy basslines, Atomic Hooligan or Digital Pimp if you like dark sounding shit, BT or Hybrid if you like really well produced symphonic sounding breaks, DJ Hyper if you like breaks that sound remarkably like hardhouse, or if you're into Florida breaks try Huda Hudia or DJ Icey or Tony Faline there's a lot more artists out there, but those ones ought to give you a good impression of what good breaks can sound like! now no more talk about breaks being boring or heads start getting bashed with a shovel :P |
