Soulseek

Does anyone use this music program? All my shit just got erased, and now I gotta start from scratch again. I heard it has a really good selection/variety of music.

The way I see it, d/l massive amounts of music and not supporting the musicians etc that worked so hard to create it isn't cool. Howeever, I'm a broke fuck right now and am not able to buy cd's anyway soo.. why deprive myself of good music when I can access it. Now if you have the money to spend on it, and you can find what you are looking for in stores, then why not buy it?

Why would I pay $15 to give money to an obsolete industry that doesn't support artists one bit?

Audiogalaxy was the greatest music p2p system that ever existed.

^ I have to agree on this. I had an AudioGalaxy Gold account...which entitled me (at the time) to high quality MP3 downloads. And the best part...it was WEB-BASED. You only needed a small client running in the background which checked your online web MP3 requests and downloaded it for you...I MISS THIS! But like all good things, it came to an end.

I have to admit, I had to be one hell of a music pirate...but then the recording industry started cracking down I have now resorted to buying the music. I read in the paper that these lawsuits have been settling for about $2000-3000...not exactly a nice price to pay.

Yeah, but they're losing a lot of face and the RIAA is starting to face antitrust stuff.

I'd still take it to court. I already pay money to the Recording Industry every time I buy a CD-R. I sure as hell am not bending to their wishes while I'm funding them.

RIAA has no face in the public eye anymore. They can thank suing a 12 year old girl for that one. Frankly I'm getting downright tired of their gestappo tactics. If I go down in flames, so be it. But I sure as hell am not going to let a few press releases scare me.

^^ If you use any p2p system your ip address is broadcast, and then they begin to bug the ISP to tell them who you are. So no, "knowing how to use a computer" has nothing to do with it.
