Sharaz @ KISS 2005 (A++)

In one word, Wow! I was knocked to my ass then forced back up to enjoy the next track. In disbelief over the unreleased, personal edits and classics this guy laid down (I would love to break down his tracklisting as best I can but im at work). Following his sets in Vancouver for several years now. After catching his last performance at Riverside back at Zen I had not expected him to be as enjoyable as he was. Plus to cap it all off, ending his set with my all time, long lost, never-heard-played-outside-my-winamp favorite Florida cheese track.. Bomb Booty. I don't think I will enjoy another breaks set so thoroughly for years. Well.. unless Tony is coming to town. *hint *hint ;)

as soon as i heard "children of the 80's" cue up and didn't see you...
i felt wrong NOT to call.
it would have been a crime for you not to be dancing around at the front during that track.

I thought he played great... The reason his mixing was just basic was because of the get go if you played with the mixer too much the power would go out. So he was taking the safe road by mixing the way he was.
Now just cause he's from florida and used to produce some florida breakz doesn't mean people can't change. Sharaz, in my opinion was alway all over the board with his production. Over the last 2 years his production has been changing towards a more bassline heavy electro breaks, which i think has become very good...
Many of the florida DJs have changed thier style of production and music selection. Many of them always spun nu skool and funky but was not played much here because at the time when they were all coming here, florida was what the crowd wanted.
From what I hear from many out of town DJs, not just from florida, and some locals, vancouver has one of the crowds to please. I can see where they are coming from, I mean you can see it everyday on this board, Vancouver is very picky. but we all like our own styles.

for now Cheers,
Eric J

^Nah, not that I remember, but he did recently remix an aquasky vs masterblaster song that uses some of the same samples..

Yeah that was a tight ass set!!! Alotta different styles, some new jams by sharaz, some classics, dope stuff!! That song that sharaz ended with was crush groove though snyx, not bomb booty, the ripper or someone must've named it wrong :) Does anyone remember, cuz I was kinda ripped as his set went on, but did he play a very oldschool sounding song with a bunch of pianos and shit? For some reason I remember one being played, but it's kinda foggy, lol

I thought his extra long set was fucking awesome!

I enjoyed every minute of it, and actually missed David Garibaldi because I couldn't tear myself away... Dammit.

And he played a rare track from overseas that I love! :) I was aboslutely beside myself when he dropped it! Ahhh.... <3

Goooooooooooooodtimes!

No worries, I fuckin' love that song as well!!! I have never heard it at a party, I really enjoyed hearing it, the timing was spot on. It's all about the middle of the song for me, the sub bass is kinda weird though, sorta hollow-ish hearing it live as well as at home?

Oh yeah, the break that he begins to use in the middle is fuckin' awesome, the basskick pattern is one of my faves!!

i thought this set was wicked. i dont see anything wrong with mxing nu skool breaks with florida becasue you pretty much have to try to please everyone and im sure if he played all florida someone would of been bitching about how he didn't throw down any nu skool or the other way around.

Haha, I was right, he did play one. I was on a site and the slag brothers remixed the same song as well. Liquid's "sweet harmony".. I googled that song and there was an icee mix on vinyl from 95, can't find any sound for it though. I'm not sure which one it was, but I'm guessing sharaz put his spin on the track. What a party joint!!
Check out http://dmswax.com/ for the slag brothers remix which is pretty fuckin' dope too, that piano line and vocal brought back some memories of kiss!
