Oh, how things would be better if people opened their Eyes. I've personally made a point of listening to as much different genres of EDM as I can. ive played a bunch of oldskool electro breaks at raves (with a more breaks crowd) and they were loved, but the synthier stuff doesnt fly so much. its more of a child of the 80s kinda thing imo

I think there's enough support here to start a disgruntled dj's group here. heh. You must be over 25 to join and be sick of the music you're known for playing, as well as the name given to describe it. I kid ;P

But I get the feeling that if you've been playing anything for an extended period of time you're bound to want to play something else. Not to say that "breaks" or "house" or "trance" is any less good, it's just not new to you anymore or give you what it used to. It sounds more like you want to play music for you, which is great, but as long as you hold the title DJ there is still some responsiblity to play what your audience wants to hear. imo.

I love electro as I also know a few of dancing buddies of mine who would also agree with me in that electro is a dope genre, but ya almost unheard of here in the party scene.

Rev: I have an even better idea... since Big Trouble is a mash-up night and not a pure electro night, a 3x3 electro set may not be a good idea there... BUT, the Cheeky room at Lotus Long Weekend is an electro/breaks room most of the time (except when we have Wood and Soo ROCK the house with their signature mash-ups!) So how about you and I do a 3x3 electro set at an upcoming LLW? :-)

I call that sound electro as well, but that is more of the Felix The Housecat, electro-rocky sounding stuff... Seems like everyone is doing a variation of electro sounding stuff now, and that's why I think it is just a matter of time before the promoters around here open up to Electro (as I said, now that Sasha and Armand are doing it, then everyone is going to pay attention, which is just the way it goes I guess :-)

Guess all you have to do is complain about a genre not being big enough and a year later it will become the most hyped and wanted. Although a lot of what ppl call "electro" isnt nessesarly electro. A lot of it has a lot of electro sounds, syths, and effects. I think you can make almost any genre sound big if you make it mainstream sounding.
