not even good production, sounded like crap,
moronic drums, everything is distorted past recognition
(mostly the bass) and the mix sucks too.
and that's just the technical stuff. seriously,
one of the worst bits of "music" i've heard in months,
if not years.
(tho to be fair, my opinion is VERY biased as the suggestion
was from torment, so.....)

^^ Oh, such mutual disinterest. haha. Honesty is cool tho. There should be more of it. And for that, a bit of "respect" huh?

Comparing the two tunes, as a dancehall fan, the KnifehandChop tune kinda resonates a bit more. A bit rawer, definite jiggy beats for the 'core heads. KnifehandChop does hilarious booty bass techno jams too, total pop dancefloor stuff. Tongue in cheek. And yeah, he's a bit of a noisy fucker too.

BBK? For my tastes, as a dancehall, dnb & ragga-jungle fan, to my ears, Tarantula is a bit over produced, slightly cheesy, typical clownsteppy dnb pap. No rawness to it.. or edge. Glossy.

Its less interesting than a Sean Paul remix.

Thank god there's alternatives to dnb dancefloor pap.

The debate will continue, different strokes and all that.

More KNIFEHANDCHOP biz from a year ago, since I brought it up right? For anyone interested.

KnifeHandCHop (Toronto - Dross:Tik Recs, TigerBeat 6, Irritant Recs, etc) on BreezeBlock BBC Radio 1 May 18, 2004

**Live in Session: Knifehandchop**
'Tizzy Tixbown Riddim' (Tigerbeat6)
'Return To Form' (Tigerbeat6)
'Outside' (Tigerbeat6)
'Goin' Back To Scarborough' (Tigerbeat6)
'Hooked On Ebonics' (Irritant)
'Bounty Killer Killer ' (Irritant)
'Bounty Killer Killer (Mecha-Knifehandchop remix)' (Tigerbeat6)

Boh!

Holy shit I just about fell out of my chair.

Is this the main promo release?!

yes...i actually BOUGHT this from the zulu used bin because i'd heard good things, brought it home, listened to it, and took it to otis the next day.....you're right, there's a decent riddim buried in there somewhere, but it's like having to wade through 6 miles of mosquito and cholera infected mangrove swamps to find a nice beach...

Apperently there were 2 different runs of promos om this tune. I think i heard there were a couple hundred with "Black Tarantula" on the A side and "Fasten your Seatbelt" on the B. And another run with "Fasten your Seatbelt" on the A and "Out Here"(another Pendulum breaks tune) on the B. Oh hey Jay i need this tune!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

there was 200 promos with 'fasten your seatbelts' as the A, and 'out here' as the AA side, aimed at breaks press/djs
out here is another breaks tune

the other copies have tarantula on the flip, which is drum and bass

Gridlok is a fucking god!

He takes part in almost every tune on the Welcome to Violence LP (minus two). Which pretty much tells you everything he touches turns to gold.

Looking on ebay, that tarantula/fasten promo you won't find for under about $40 CDN at this point. Lovin that! Where a promo is so hard to come buy cats pay $40-50 bucks for it.

Whats the last track that did that? I gotta say Q-project-Champion sound when that came out on promo, it was so hard to find in the Uk these kids were paying 30-40 quid for it. (Quid = pounds)..

OKay, lets expand the thread...

Whats the most you've ever payed for a d&b track, weither it be a classic, promo, etc. I guess everyone pays normal prices for promos now because everyone is playing pretty much the same shit.. Personally I don't spin d&b, but as a collector, I picked up a classic DJ K track for $45US. But, the most i've ever spent on a track in general is $60US. And I have never, ever seen that track for sale again anywhere. So a good deal in my books.

fuck man, you gotta look on ebay more often, almost every week there's a promo with MULTIPLE copies selling in the $60 CDN range or higher,
as to the most i've spent on a record, probably $100 (i think for a few tunes i own) and i've spent $75 to get a promo two or three months before anyone else, and man did i ever hammer that tune! ahaha (BC remix of squash)
*three months because i got the one sided test press, mistakenly pressed on the wrong label
