Bono: Time Magazine Man of the Year...following Hitler & Dubya

I don't hate Bono because he's popular (really...whoever doesn't at least mildly enjoy The Beatles has a problem). I hate him because he's a camera hogging, lying, do nothing billionaire. I think it's just a little funny how he gets really political and vocal about some photogenic issue right around when he has an album coming out, then does nothing about anything afterward (How's that debt forgiveness coming? What's Africa up to these days? ...oh, we've got to wait for the follow-up to Atomic Bomb first.). Getting your picture taken with George Bush while wearing purple sunglasses is is about all he's good for. He uses issues to sell records, and nothing more. F*ck him.

Aside from an decent early greatest hits and the 11 O'Clock Tick Tock single, I've got no use for them. I can't help but think things would've turned out differently had they spent more time with Martin Hannett (Joy Division, Happy Mondays). :173:

Yeah, Bill Gates was there too. Woopee...
That still doesn't take Bono off the cover, does it?

I just found out Bill Gates has given 58% of his wealth to charity. I stand corrected. He's alright.

Bono...still a penis sausage.

Call me cynical but I bet there's an angle. What charity? What tax benefits did he receive? I remember back in the day he gave a computer to every single class room in California and everyone was all "what a nice guy." It turned out though that he used them as a write off at full retail value and therefore actually made a massive profit. As well he got to put one of his computers in every class room in California, I mean shouldn't you have to pay for that sort of advertising/product placement?

Well, to put Bill's 58% into perspective, the Waltons (the people who own Walmart) have given less than 1% of their wealth to charity. Walmart employees actually give a higher percentage of their wealth to charity than the Waltons.

^^^ Not that I'm saying Gates is a saint but the world would probably be a much better place if most billionaires were like him.
