Movie Review: Innocent Blood

This is not your typical vampire movie because the anti-heroine is not your usual vampire. Marie hunts the criminal as a snack, and after satiating her bloodlust she blows off the first victim, an underling of Sal Macelli with a shotgun blast to the head to prevent him from arising as a vampire.


But when she is stopped by Sal's driver, she unleashes a psychopath on Philidelphia who succeeds in turning his lawyer into a vampire only to have him be exposed to the morning sun and disintegrate before horrified medical staff -- I thought these people have seen everything.

Later on Sal turns his henchmen into vampires too. They also try to turn a couple of the hero's cop buddies into vampires, too.

Finally, Joey torches Sal after he is smacked by a cab against the front of a bus.

As Robert Loggia does his best overacting as the insane Macelli, Joey shoots him and he explodes in a mass of exploding parts.

Then Marie walks away, wishing to meet a fiery death at sunrise. She gives Joey a parting kiss, and he makes small talk. So they hook up and shack up together.

End of story.

This movie should have a part two with Joey as a cop with Marie as his PI. Though I think the long life of vampires will result in Marie mourning his death.

My guess is, this movie inspired a few vampire movies where the hero is a vampire hunting down rogue vampires as psychopathic as Sallie.
