Did you keep your wisdom teeth?

Well, I had my wisdom teeth (3) taken out this morning, and they asked me if I wanted to keep them. I did, because I'm going to bleach them (to disinfect and remove some of the blood stains) and show them to the kids in my class. We've been doing lots of teaching around teeth and so on right now that it just seems so appropriate. Also, the kids told me I should keep them and put them under my pillow and see if the tooth fairy can remember where I live (it's a gr 1 class, so they are 6 y/o's and all losing their teeth so they are big into the tooth fairy).

So... if you've had your wisdom teeth taken out, did you keep them?

yep I got all 4 of them ripped out and kept all 4 of them. Man are they huge bastards.

^ I dunno if they offer normally? I just happened to be talking about what I'd said to the kids about how I wasn't going to be at school today and what I was having done. Haha. So the dental assistant asked me after if I actually wanted to keep them to show the kids. Muahahah..!

i'm gettin 2 of mine out in 2 weeks.. they're killing me right now, the left side of my head/face aches constantly :(

but i think i would want to keep them.. and will probably throw them out when the amusement wears off hehee

I'm all about the novelty! I wanna see what these kids say. Hahaha. They are SO MUCH BIGGER than their little teeth that are falling out right now. My Daddy said I should make them into earrings. Lol.

^ Lucky! I had two on the bottom but my jaw kept them from growing more than 75% in. And then the one on the top was fine, but bc they took out the one on the bottom on that same side, they had to take it too. And the fourth is MIA!

^Keeping in mind that I have had NO dental work besides cleanings (no cavity club baby!)... I just had local freezing and it was no big deal. I had 3 teeth out - one straight forward yank em out type deal, and two that were 75% grown in, but needed a little cutting drilling action to be removed, but were still very straight forward. It didn't hurt bc basically most of my mouth was frozen. You feel pressure but not pain. If it starts to feel uncomfortble, just ask for more freezing - I did.

It kinda feels like your a nascar race car coming in for a pitstop as two people shuffle around in you mouth and you hear weird noises (cracking, drilling, sucking) but it's not scary, and not painful - And I'm a REALLY big wuss with no tolerance for pain. Ive got t3s to follow up, and am icing my face every 30 min on & off.

The whole thing took about 30 min only. Hit me up on msn if you wanna pick my brain girl =)

whats the freezing thing bout? i thought they jus used nitrus... thats what evry1 i know from here, has got em out on...

^ i'm gettin knocked out.. i have problem teeth and had to be referred to an oral surgeon

my 2 bottom ones are growing in almost horizontal and my top left one require extra surgery afterwards cause it's way close to my nasal cavity

Freezing is just getting a needle full of numbing stuff to the gums around the teeth that are being worked on that freezes the area. So you are wide awake/concious when everyhting is going on, but you don't feel anything (except pressure). The freezing lasts for about 4 hrs? If you've ever used Orajel in your mouth it's like using tons of that and your mouth being all numb. Its the first time I ever had my mouth frozen - it was kinda weird!

I didnt keep mine... they knocked me out so I was too out of it to make in choices like that. I was barly able to even walk to the car... never mind asking to keep the teeth.

I still have a bunch of my old teeth though. I was saving them till I needed money so I had the option of cahshing them into the tooth fairy... Mom sure got a deal when I found out the tooth fariy doesnt exist.

I think I need to get mine out.. I have been waking up with a swollen face for the past week..and they have been bothering me for months. I dont have dental though... Anyone know what the cost would be? I would keep mine though! My mom gave me all of my baby teeth..its neat in a gross way. heh ;D

^ I have no idear what it'd be without dental. I have 80% dental coverage thru work, and to get three out (1 pull, 2 cut/drill/pull, but all easy) MY cost was $179 at a specialist. He was grand so if you want his name/number, pm me.

^ Yup, you'd need to be referred from your family dentist anyways I believe. Some family dental ofices will remove wisdom teeth on site, but some aren't equipped/trained to do it so they refer you to a speicalist.
