so I was going up on this elevator and right before it hit the floor I wanted to get off at, I jumped.

IT WAS SO COOL.

you jump like twice as high as you normally would.

and it's the opposite for when it's going down. if you jump right before it hits the floor, you jump so much lower, you almost lose your balance because the floor hits your feet so much faster than you expect!

has anyone else tried this before?

When I use to live in an apartment as a kid my dad and I would do it all the time.... sometimes I would get scared cus you really fly up high :p

and yes, crowded elevators can be awkward. I never jump when there are other people in the elevator with me though. that would just be weird.

no, I was never given proper elevator etiquette, although I'd like to think that I've gone on enough elevators rides to know the social norm. :)






sometimes I wonder if the elevator has a video camera, and there are people watching and laughing at what a dork I am.

yeah I have done that before, it's pretty fun! and yes, usually there are video cameras in elevators these days. so any hanky panky will be recorded. I like to wave at the camera in my building sometimes and sometimes do silly faces or do something silly, y'know, to make their day a little less boring and all. =P

I once had a list of "50 fun things to do in elevators".
my favourites included:
Step 1: put pager in large paper bag or parcel;
Step 2: predial pager number on cell phone for quick activation
Step 3: Enter semi-crowded Elevator
Step 4: Dial Pager
Step 5: Wait for Beep - Yell "Shit, only 10 seconds left"
Step 6: Watch Faces
And
-Hum the first 4 notes of "its a small world", so everyone else will have it stuck in their heads for the remainder of eternity, but you wont.....
