Imminent [ Belgium, Ant-Zen/ Hymen Records ]
www.ant-zen.com/imminent

" Imminent Starvation is (or was) the leading project of the prolific Belgian musician/knob-twiddler Olivier Moreau. Since the early 90s, Olivier has been something of a leading light in the field of extreme electronic music, the genre dubbed 'power noise' by many. Incessant technoid rhythms and piercing, twisted electronic noise are the two key ingredients in the Imminent Starvation's musical palette, with cold, eerie atmospheric textures adding another layer of macabre to the overall sound. His two albums and multiple vinyl and side-project releases have garnered more attention than you might expect from such an anti-commercial musical proposition...Olivier's work has been released on the Ant-Zen label, with his vinyl releases appearing on its off-shoot Hymen. This label has become the market leader in the field of rhythmic noise, with bands such as Synapscape and P.A.L also on their books. However Imminent Starvation is no more. Once 'Nord' was complete, Olivier Moreau destroyed his mixing desk, gave away the pieces as part of the limited release of 'Nord' and shortened his moniker to 'Imminent'."

Dj BASECK [ DarkMatter Soundsystem LA, Schematic Recs, Addict Recs, Mega Blast Fresh ]
www.baseck.com, www.addictrecords.com, www.schematic.net

Baseck played out for the first time at a jungle and hardcore party that he and his brother helped set up out in the deserts of Lancaster, California. He was then asked by Greg Ginn of Black Flag to play at the Idea Room in Long Beach and soon became a regular in the southern California electronic music scene. Early on he began to disassemble tracks and recompose them to create his own fusions through turntable trickery. His turntablist style is made up of breakcore, broken beats, IDM, droning atmosphere, and noise to create a beautifully slaughtered collage of sound. In his live acts his goal is to "expose people to a more visual act" with experimental electronic music. His audience seems to levitate forward to watch his hands although he believes that playing out doesn't have to be limited to the space between his equipment, himself, and the crowd as in most public "zombie e-mail coffee shop laptop sessions" as he puts it. In the last two years Baseck has toured four times in the U.S. and three times in Europe and the U.K. with artists such as Milwaukee's Doormouse and Miami's Otto Von Schirach. He has collaborated on tracks with Hecate on Zhark Records in Switzerland and is currently working on projects for both Schematic Records in Miami and Addict Records from Milwaukee. Releases include a remix for Otto Von Schirach on Schematic records and tracks on compilations released on Addict records as well as several self-released mixes. He has also shared the stage with artists such as Richard Devine, Venetian Snares, Kid 606, Soft Pink Truth, Daedelus, Phoenicia, The Berzerker, Dabrye, Busdriver, Awol One, and many more.

"...Baseck is an amazing DJ. I got nothing but respect for what he does. One of the very best to apply creative battle turntablism to fucked up experimental beats & textures..." - dj/RUPTURE

DISKORE [ DarkMatter Soundsystem, LA]
www.darkmattersoundsystem.com

"...blending industrial, electro and broken hardcore like few others can...His style of mixing is quite aggressive; 33 tracks in 72 minutes is not too shabby and, most importantly, he does it well"

SONIC DEATH RABBIT
www.sdr.baseck.com/bio.htm

Sonic Death Rabbit recently formed in early 2004 by musicians Derrick Estrada (Baseck) from the Los Angeles area and Cristina Fuentes originally from Miami. Both of them wanted to create a project that was first of all fun and even picking at themselves for their own primitive electronic guilty pleasures. Cristina's background has ranged from low-fi, simplistic 80's fantasy and video game inspired kids keyboard creations where she played locally around Charlotte, North Carolina under the names Casio Empire and Cartoon Violence. Later on in the same state she played for three years in a DIY powered metalic hardcore band called Choke Their Rivers With Our Dead where she did abrassive screaming vocals and basslines through keyboards. Cristina believes that her music and live performances should be as raw and personal as she can possibly create. Every song focuses on a different combination of genres. For example "nalgas brutas (happy dutchcore remix)" has fast, gritty, and agressive beats with amazingly uplifting synth melodies and "Milwaukee IDMetal Fest" is their own 8-bit rendition of black metal complete with operatic keyboards and vocals. Almost every song starts off with the basic structure laid down by beats Baseck makes on his Gameboy using LSDJ and the melodies that Cristina creates on her Korg MS2000B synthesizer. Layers of scratching, real and kids electronic guitars, screaming, spoken word, singing, and whatever other intrument they see fit by both members complete the songs with an arsenal of mix-matched sound.
