TIPPER (Maui, Hawaii)
---------------------
http://www.tippermusic.net
http://www.samurai.fm/tipper/index.php <-- Hear his mixes!

Back for his only show in BC this summer!

Tipper makes music for sound systems, with a diversity that ranges from bass fuelled
electro-breaks, to hip-hop, to intricately programmed downtempo, to full orchestral
compositions etc; music that demands to be played at high volumes to unleash their
lethal potential. With a musical background in classical training, and listing
influences from drum & bass, to hip-hop, to electronica, Tipper has created his own
brand of devastating dancefloor bombs and after club ear-teasers. He is admired for
being "streaks ahead," and his "expertly crafted" productions are dubbed as being
"frightening yet refreshing, if it doesn't move you check for a pulse."

Although mostly known in the breakbeat scene, Tipper’s output includes strong hints
of electro and idm amongst other styles. He is known for his interest in extreme bass
frequencies, with his releases often including lengthy subbass test tones at the end.

Tipper is also the owner of the loudest car in the world, a 10k sound system in a
Dodge Challenger. He, and likeminded people from his label Fuel Records, have
engaged in stunts like emptying a swimming pool, covering it with an acoustic canopy
and enjoying the bass, or drowning out The Prodigy on the main stage of the
V Festival with their car sound systems parked several miles away.

His ambient organic sounds blended with technologically borne beats and noises
makes his music extremely psychedelic, this combined with exquisetely timed and cut
scratching makes him one of the most complete electronic artists today, creating
structures and textures that in some other contexts might be contrary and confusing,
but fuse instead into a complex ,harmonious and sometimes dark structure that
continues to push the envelope of modern composition .

"crunkadelic basstraveler"

VibeSquaD is the multi-personality brainchild of Aaron Holstein.

VibeSquaD Recordings proudly announces the release of "Dawn Patrol" aaron holstein's
2nd full length VibeSquaD album of 2008!!!

Though his legendary live sets may cause whiplash and heart attacks in the
unsuspecting bystander, those prepared to launch get much more than they bargained
for. Aaron's music defies typical genre-labels and covers tempos from slow 'n hard
lowriding krunkadelics to mid-tempo barnstormers all in a seamlessly flowing soulful
mash-dirty and beautiful as life itself.

Aaron also plays bass/keys for the bands ZILLA (w/ Michael Travis & Jamie Janover) &
SPORQUE (w/Ooah & Jamie Janover)

LongwalkShortDock (Vancouver, BC)
--------------------------------------------------
http://www.myspace.com/longwalkshortdock

Longwalkshortdock esentially started the first time Dave King heard gritty electronic
music in early eightys videogames. Strongly influenced by these sounds and melodys,
Dave started recording and looping segments as a child. He also got a taste for
sampling and recording; Taping segments of his piano practice to fool his parents into
thinking he was practicing in the other room. Dave then noticed he was writting his
profile in the third person......... After briefly considering the pretentious
implications of doing this he decided to continue on with it. After the early years
of video game loops, longwalkshortdock went through many years of musical genre
infidelity and learned to play many instruments in many styles. After collecting gear,
ideas, and collaborators, Dave decided to move from his home town of Calgary to
Vancouver to take 2 degrees in sound production and recording.

Dave has worked in the studio and played live shows along side a host of talented
artists such as : Alex Patterson (The Orb), Matt the Alien, Phil Western (Download,
Kone, Beehatch) to name a few. Since then longwalkshortdock has been putting together
a large body of work both for album release and for live use in the hopes of creating
a positive ear related experience for "the people". Did you hear they found him in a
cave on the moon? Thats what I heard... Dave then decided that was enough information
in the Bio for the time being and decided to stop adding to it right in the middle
of typ

Max Ulis - Lighta! (Vancouver, BC)
----------------------------------
http://www.myspace.com/maxtronic

I've been djing for about 10 years and producing for around four. I got into dubstep
through my love of jungle, techno, and grime (electronic music in general), I did a
grime weekly for about a year in Vancouver with a couple friends. At around the same
time grime was kinda falling off for me I spent a little time in London and picked up
a couple 12's like Coki "Officer", Vex'd "Lion" and got really excited about the sound.
I started blending these darker elements into my set and about half the people loved
and the other half hated it. This went on for some time until Michael Red asked me to
become part of lighta! and things started getting more interesting. We were playing
parties that had dancehall, jungle, dub, glitch and dubstep all on the same night
and people were coming, and then alot of people were coming, and then all of a sudden
we had a community. This community is what inspires me to make music.

I have been lucky enough to appear alongside the likes of The Mad Professor,Kode 9,
Skream, Dj Vadim, The Bug, Bassnectar, Benga, Caspa, Hatcha, Loefah, Megasoid,
Ghislain Poirier, Chefal, Starkey, Youngsta, Dj C, Filastine, Knifehandchop,
Deadbeat, and the legendary Remarc.

Micheal Red (LIVE PA!) - Lighta! - (Vancouver, BC)
--------------------------------------------------
http://www.myspace.com/michael_red

MICHAEL RED is a music producer, performer, livePA artist, DJ, event producer,
promoter, and curator. Originally from Halifax (NS) based out of Vancouver (BC) since
'98, Michael's been doing it for a while now.

Michael DJ's and performs live in a decent handful of scenes and styles. Red
residented Vancouver's longest running dancehall night BRUK OUT, continues to rock
sold-out & capacity underground parties, and has played alongside a lengthy list of
international talent in both dubstep and jungle realm's. As the founding member and
the key event-thrower begin LIGHTA! SOUND, Michael's played a pivotal role in shaping
the now thriving dubstep and bass scene in Vancity. Spreading the sound beyond
Vancouver and setting the standard high.

Michael is also known for his musical collaboration with acclaimed inuit throat singer
TANYA TAGAQ. Playing shows across Canada, US & Europe, improvising with electronics
and dubbing out Tanya's vocals with Ableton Live - leaving many audience's breathless
and usually a good handful in tears. (look out for the new album, soon enough)

SOUNS is an "ambient/etc." project from Michael Red. The words "ambient/etc." are
used to describe sounds ranging from hyper-minimal tones and pure textures up to
soundscapes supported by dub bass-lines and quiet rhythms. Souns takes roots in the
elemental songs of water, wood, wind, fire, metal, dreamtime and the unseen world.
The message is of light and evolution.

Souns live performances weave pre-programmed structures with live looping and
processing of bells, chimes, glockenspiel, trumpet, samples, the immediate
environment, found objects, field recordings, static and hiss. There is a heavy
improvisational element to Souns live and recorded works, largely guided by an emptied
mind and an open channel.

Hexadecibel

http://soundcloud.com/hexadecibel

Aufect (CA) | Pressing Issues | Formant (US) | Echodub (UK)
TRiLLBASS (US) | Mindset Records (UK) | Suface Tension (US)
Substruk (US) | Filthy Digital (US) | DubKraft (EU)
DDR (DE) | Migration (UK) | Betamorph (US)

How do you describe hexadecibel aka HxdB? Well, that's easy. To describe
this man's music on the other hand, is not so easy...

The former, is a 30 year music lover, and recent re-initiate back in
to the game of music creation, who along with fellow Canadian virtuoso,
DJ Cure, manage Aufect Recordings (http://myspace.com/aufect) & Pressing
Issues Recordings (http://pressing-issues.com). The latter is a mish-
mash of superlatives and buzz words to attempt to describe his well-
crafted sounds. Words like soulful, epic, haunting, rolling, deep & heavy
are common on the lips of his growing following. His productions are
diverse, ranging many of the different ends of the dubstep spectrum,
and you can really hear that he strives to create his unique soundscapes
in what whatever scope is given.

2009 looks to be a very promising year for him, with forthcoming releases
and material currently releases on Echodub, Mindset, Formant, Surface
Tension, Trillbass, Cymbstep, Substruk, Betamorph, DDR, Filthy Digital,
DubKraft & Rob Sparx's newly formed imprint Migration and with many other
record labels salivating over his music, it almost seems a certainty we'll
see many, many more on the horizon. Also, look for various remixes,
bootlegs and other exclusives posted by him on the music forum
(http://dubstepforum.com) where you can currently find a number of his
tracks offered for free, sitting happily at the top of the forum.

You can also download the hexadecibel showcase mix which is comprised
solely of his original material.

Jay Michael (Calgary) - http://www.area709.com
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Music and dance for me is a full on functioning addiction. From the early days sorting through
records at Calgary’s infamous Feroshus records to late nights scouring the internet, I have
been on an endless search for those precious little gems that just make you want to move.
I have played dance floors all over Canada and the United states in venue’s ranging
from clubs, community centers, deserts, islands and mountain forests. I have played
the role of social activist using music and dance as a platform for positive change
within the communities that I have lived. I live my life to the fullest and try to inspire
everyone around me to do the same.

In the last couple years I have been blessed to perform at virtually every major
electronic event or music festival across western Canada and the western United
States. As an original member of the Area709 collective I have helped bring international
artists such as Sensient and Shadow Fx of Zenon Records, Beat Bizarre of Iboga
Records and Vibrapshere of Tribal Vision Records to Canada. I have worked with
collectives organizing multiple day Intentional retreats, activism festivals and facilitated
dance workshops.

Currently working with the Inner Dynamix collective I help produce a monthly world beat
night in Calgary called Journeys. It incorporates an hour long meditation at the opening
followed by a 3 hour lightly facilitated dance journey musically scored by myself to
beats inspired by cultures from all over the world.
