PROPER for the PEOPLE
Okay, as you may have heard, PROPER SATURDAYS will be ending it's run at The Green Room (aka Media Club) after this weekend . .
But don't despair beatfreaks, for we shall return, stronger & mightier than ever! Having re-vamped and re-formatted the whole PROPER philosophy, WOOD & LINK will be back in September with a new venue and a whole new outlook on life! Having realized the limitations of the small and insular drum'n'bass scene, we've decided to broaden our musical approach, to include a little something for ALL the wonderful open-minded party people in this city! That's right we're throwing all our dubplates, double-drops and rewinds OUT THE WINDOW and bringin you music that is fun, freaky and loveable. Not to mention un-limitited to any one genre or style! Now, in an evening at Proper you might hear the sounds of classic funk, rare groove, hiphop, jungle, broken beats, electro, dancehall and disco - all in the space of one set! Our only criteria is that every tune that hits the platter will make you move your ass. So, where's this all going down, you ask? Well, in a beautiful 100 year old building in the China town portion of Main Street, there is a lovely little bistro/bar called The Brickhouse - some of you may have partied there before. It's an amazing atmosphere, there's a lounge area near the bar with many couches & comfy seating, and lots of room to get down on the dancefloor. There's even a second bar downstairs with pool tables, where smoking is allowed!
