the question is.... how does it work... and am I right thinking that those green and bright green bars represent karma? if so how much does it take to move up a box?

karma = green boxes beside your post count.

you can send good karma and bad karma to people for posts. the more karma you get the more green boxes you get. click on the ying-yang under the post count thing to send karma to people.
