Cheap place for PC parts?

I'm building a new overclocked intel Q9550 DAW (finaly) within the next two weeks.

NCIX seems to be pretty competitive in price, any independant shops that are cheaper? I don't want to use tiger direct cause I'm never home for a delivery.

I found them to be a bit more in price for the componants that I'm looking for. I'm sure thier CS is better but I don't need consultation on my purchase.......

Ncix isthe way to go, just take a number and tell them what you want. check for combo deals and all that. whacha gettin Stu?

^ You haven't been there in like a decade have you? They've actually stepped up their CS game, though they are nowhere near the bargain-bin prices they used to be. But it definitely isn't the same Soup-Nazi design they had 5 or so years ago.

I'm thinking of a Intel Q9550 on an ASUS P5Q3 MB. I'm still doing a bit of research cause I want to overclock everything modestly.

in all honesty if you want to go duo go for the xeons and overclock cause they are so fucking cheap right now. Are you getting XP, Vista or 7? Audio work im assuming

If you dont want to fuck around I would get an i7 and one of the new supporting motherboards (around $500 for both) and rock windows 7. This weekend has been insane because i just finished my new build and can run Ableton 8, reason (in rewire), wave multipe waves plugins running and have T-racks3 chugging along on the master channel (T-Racks is the most CPU hungry plugin you can come accross at the moment). All that running very smooth at 30-40% cpu usage in a 64-bit envitroment. all with 8 threads going on at once.

dont go cheap man, its worth it 100%

That's awsome to here that Windows 7 is working the way it should.
